I had the chance to sample (KVLC) 101 Gold in Las Cruces over the Weekend (7-9 - 7-10). This is what an Oldies station should sound like. There's a lot of variety in the music. They actually play 50's, 60's, 70's, and even some 80's. All in a very neat package.
The most refreshing part is the station sounds LOCAL with vibrant personalities that know how to sell the product. Looking at the ratings, they seem to be at the top of their game.
Kudos to Mike McKay and staff for a wonderful listening experience.
If you're looking to do OLDIES, you must check out this gem at 101.1 in Las Cruces. (My former radio stomping grounds in the 80's.)
