A station I like!

WRBK is good but their signal often gets clobbered by WFHE Hickory the repeater for WFAE. I recently started listening to WSPA-FM. The music mix is pretty good. Don't tell them I like it though or they might just change the format!

Glad you like it, because I don't think they're doing that great here in their home market right now. But they do have a strong signal that reaches into Charlotte. It sounds rather tired to me, but my 68 year old mother seems to enjoy it. Not sure if she is their targeted demographic.

They Should Be. Way Back When My Parents were self-employed, they chose 98.9 for the ''Office Music'' rather than what Rock Hill and Charlotte had to Offer. I think, back then, they called it ''WSPA Magic 98.9''. But after seeing recent mistakes I made making these posts, that is subject to debate... Steve.

I take it back, not that great and way too much Madonna. I heard Holiday Friday night and then Saturday around noon!

WSPA-FM isn't doing well here in Greenville. The 12+ looks alright (but closer to the bottom than top), but the 25-54's, the target demo, are bad. Tied with the active rocker 25-54 near the bottom.

Sad, they used to be a great AC station until the last year or so. The playlist is so tight, but the 80s music at noon is very good. I know what you mean about "Holiday" Mike...they repeat older songs every 12-15 hours sometimes!

The way people are talking on the South Carolina board, they just might.

Does anyone do radio for a living? ;D

LOL! For a paycheck, yes... for a living, no... ::)

The only bright spot in Charlotte radio for me that remains is WKKT. (The Lake is okay, but it's just not a format I enjoy. Doesn't mean it won't be successful, but I, like many here on the board, would've rather seen Classic Hits on 102.9.) The Kat sounds phenomenal - a nice, pop-friendly, upbeat country station. The imaging is quick, to-the-point and keeps the music moving.

Whenever people ask what kind of a country station would have a shot in New York, I think a station modeled after WKKT's music selection and imaging would perform quite well. (Since there is no competition, I would get rid of speeding up the music, though.) Even though it's a CC station, compared to other stations across the country, I think it has a great feel and vibe to it. No wonder it is beating WSOC consistently in PPMs.

I am still amazed at how WKQC beat Lite and won the AC battle. IMHO, the imaging and music selection (especially the tracks they speed up) are horrendous. But I guess people love it! Wonder how their 25-54 looks... Ah well... what is it? Three months 'til "Christmas K?" ;D
