Things are about to get "WENDY" on the 8th floor.
You heard it here first.
For mkt 192, this one was kept pretty quiet for the last several weeks. A storm? Yes she can be but after the cleansing damage of himmacane Kris this may just be what is needed to correct the erosion that has extended all the way up from the coast. I like hearing her on air, the sound reminds me of the richness of a 300 year old Stratavarian (badly ms) cello. If they continue making good choices she'll get to do promotions as well.
It's rather amazing when you think of the cycle. Styles buys KMX and existing elements using altered French Management techniques rid themselves of the "Old Guard KMXers"....then name and ownership changes occur (please refer to a post by Preem of the FCC paperwork sometime ago).....now "Old Guard KMXers" are being brought back (the legend of TD grows). Wow, the song "Maybe I'm Amazed" by wings is playing in my head.
So on Sept 8th when doing country, midday (I assume) listeners will have a choice of Wendy or the males on the other three metro country carriers. Lest memory fails, she has some of the biggest share numbers ever (and pretty doggone consistently) recorded by someone doing an individual (unpartnered) shift. She plays fairly but she plays for keeps boys, you'd better get ready to step it up!
With that wonderful average book crap now it'll take a full year for the numbers to truly reflect it, so that agencies will have to take notice and Magic will be able to bump the rates post AP........speaking of which, has ANYBODY heard just how those numbers were for 95 that were just un-released when AP was OMing?
Allow me a moment of pure speculation: Magic is the only one that is under contract and has the right to use them (excepting agencies that buy and list the rating on the buy for that station, calculation of CPP) so unless they have stations that did exceptionally well (no matter personell changes, agencies don't give a rip) they won't be bragging and they haven't bragged. WOOF and Wilson have no competition so they set their own prices (as all should ANYWAY) and therefore need not buy the numbers except to keep the dothan Market from being dropped by Arbitron (don't think Arb's in any postion to strat that high-handed approach at the time). That leaves TRP who, since Magic isn't bragging, would've had a good one and might buy it to use now and try and finish off TVY financially unless in trying to de-mystify Magic got the folks from there to come over BEFORE the rating were revealed and uh-ho. Could the dog's nose is getting a little warm and dry?
(And just for you-know-whats and giggles, this thread count at this time is 107...my it's that coincidental, remeber the Voice of The Great Gulf South)
