A story you won't hear anywhere else!!

Especially not on Mc12, the Valley's number thirdest news leader!! ;)

http://www.kpho.com/station/21762226/detail.html

KPHO is Numero Uno at 10!!

Congrats Sean and Catherine!!! Tell it like it is!!

"The landscape in late news has shifted in the Phoenix market," said Vice President and General Manager Edward Munson, Jr. "Our move into first place is a direct result of Valley residents' desire for a no-nonsense, Telling It Like It Is newscast. Viewers know they get a straightforward look at the day's top news and team of journalists who hold those in power accountable and get answers."

Cooney and Curtis: Two different people (just in case you didn't notice), one great number third news team!! Way to go Mc12!!!

While you can spin the numbers sixteen different ways,
I'm not sure there's any breakout where Mc12 would
come out on top at 10, given the big spread in the 2+
Mon-Fri numbers quoted by channel 5.

While CBS has been strong in prime, the likely main cause
for Mc12 tanking at 10 is...Leno tanking at 9.

I guess this story won't be in The Arizona Socialist Republic. ;)

"Telling It Like It Is" is bad grammar. If it comes from someone in this forum or everyday people, I just let it pass. But from a journalism organization, it's unacceptable. That's telling it as it is.

There, I said it. My life resumes.

(My use of that phrase on a paper was made a public example in class by a HS English teacher. She didn't reveal my name, but I never forgot it. :-[ )

It's always good to mix it up a little bit in the ratings. It keeps the local media on their toes. Sure would like to know who is #1 in the mornings, noon, and early evenings as well.

Any info out there?

It's not just being #1 that matters. It's WHO is watching you. 12 has been dominate at 10pm for years but their demographics (the age, gender and race of the people watching) have skewed older. 3 and 10 have captured more of the younger more advantageous audience for years. So for any station to say that they are #1 is only half the story. TV is about making money and sometimes 1st isn't any good if you can't sell those numbers. Also, sometimes it cost a lot of money to become #1 in a market while a #2 or #3 actually makes more money. Just a thought.

I guess the quest for younger demos is why the 'news' now has segments like "Who was the most popular search on Google this year?".

A national ABC evening news story last Monday.

The manager of my high school radio station used to play our air check tapes in front of the class for all to hear. No need to name names, especially when you introduce yourself and then say something you try to live down for the remainder of your high school career. I learned to polish my on-air delivery, but it was painful at times. Some lessons are more painful than others. Life is funny that way. ;)

15 beat 12 at 10pm.

There was a story from Virginia that the CBS had for the first time in a while (and it used to be the doormat) beaten the NBC at 11pm.
