A Success Story

In these tough times, we all must make sacrifices. Good broadcasters at Cumulus are being laid-off every day. Live shows are being replaced by syndication and part-timers are being cut back to minimum wage. But through all of this, one brave soul, one radio stalwart manages not only to hang on, but prosper in these trying times. Congratulations to Cumulus exec Lew Dickey. He was offered and accepted (humbly, I'm sure -- it's the kind of guy he is) an eight million dollar bonus. Congrats, Lew, you deserve everything that's coming to you!

Yes, all of the Dickey brothers have a reputation of being among the few "class acts" in our industry.. ::)

I am sure all the folks that have been fired are very happy that Lew took such a small bonus. How will he get by?

That's exactly what I mean. Honest to God, you look up sacrifice in the encyclopedia, and you get a picture of Lew Dickey!

Give him some of that bale out money right now! Then he can make the true sacrifice of making only $500,000 a year.

Come on. You all are being way to tough on Lewgy...it's the American Way, circa 2009, to shower a CEO with
millions for ruining the company even more than the previous year. Next year, when stock is worth three pennies
he'll get $15M. It's the fiduciary responsibility (all i's for it'a all about me, in this case Lew) of a CEO.

It's sad when corporations are worse at screwing things up than the government.

Sad but true! I had a "head hunter" call me not long ago and I told him no thanks. Wouldn't get back into radio no matter how many $$ they gave me. That call didn't last long.
No matter how hard you work or how good you are you will not make much money and will get cut because you make what you do make. All because the "big guys" need to make big bonus bucks.
