A Tense times @ 105.3?

I caught the early part of Friday's Pugs & Kelly show. Seems they were bitchin' about how Gavin never has time for them anymore (He finds the time with Russ). Then, when Kelly found out she couldn't be the DIVA at FREE 105.3's shindig at the Stars game (AAC). She was in Bitch Mode, then Gavin was on the line and I think he was being edited by the board op. Seems, Gavin's comments couldn't be heard due to technical difficulty's. Hmmmmm

Could the axe be swinging come January for P&K? Could they become FREE from 105.3???
My bet is when Devid Lee Roth numbers come in, he will get canceled here while Russ get's a new contract and big bucks to due the morning drive time.
At that time Gavin will realize P&K were only riding Howard Sterns lead-in and cannot hold an audience and it's time to let P&K hit the beach.
Of course, Kelly will want to sue and bring up the Steve Dahl lawsuit. But, I think they have played that card way too long and it doesn't work anymore.

Your thoughts are welcomed.

FYI-1190 and 1160 AM are playing great songs. JACK FM could take a hint from their play list.

Bit or not, they wont be able to hold a post-DLR slot and hopefully will be drummed out of the market. I also think the Dahl card cant be played any longer(something about statue of limitations) and if gavin is smart, he'll pink slip them first of january.

Re: A Tenses time @ 105.3?

P&K is/are such a non-issue. They wanted attention, and they got it here. It's never bothered management that P&K can't even keep the Stern audience afterwards, and I'm sure DLR will sink immediately after the curious folks tune in and tune back out after the first few weeks. Hot Talk itself is a dying format. Martin seems to be an exception, but he's not enough to fill an entire schedule with, or to use as justification for weak programming the rest of the day. Easy to see why Infinity is reimaging all their hot talk stations YET AGAIN. Those former 18-34 males who made Hot Talk a viable format in the 1990s have grown older and have tuned elsewhere as their tastes have changed. Today's 18-34's would probably appreciate active rock interspersed between DLR and Martin instead of more weak wannabe Howards gabbing about absolutely nothing. The Eagle used to work music around talk shows, and hit #7 at their peak in the late 90s. With a little faith and b@lls, it could be done again.

But it's the same old story. Infinity being REACTIVE instead of PROACTIVE. Catching on to reality LONG after the rest of the industry does. Letting a format sink to the absolute bottom before making any change. Not listening to what the LISTENER wants. Thinking they're smarter than the rest of us. Remember Wild-FM running 3 years longer than it should have. KLUV rotting their playlist with doo-wop songs 3 years longer than they should have. Young Country keeping that format LONG after the 'new country' wave was over. KVIL and KRLD still rotting away in shells of their former selves. And KOAI suspending soft R&B from their playlist for nearly 3 years and running off their core audience of older, affluent blacks. It's a comedy of errors, thanks mainly to Kurt "Kurtis J" Johnson, Boredom's Best Friend. Now he's taken Jack-FM to new lows by Scott-Strong-ing the format into playing only his personal selections. Why not just call the thing KURT-FM and quit paying royalties to "Jack"?

Want something cutting edge to save Hot Talk with? How about something based on satellite radio's Playboy Channel?

Speaking of, 1190 **WAS** doing just fine until they played Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places" last night. It was akin to hearing a Scorpions song between Mozart selections on WRR.

I listened to WRR I heard "Strauss The Blue Danube"." "Hell Fire"-Arthur Brown,
Chopin'Piano concerto in c minor followed by "Inna Godda Divida" -Iron Butterfly. So what's the problem??;)
