Back in 1995, WTXF became a FOX O&O, and Viacom/Paramount purchased WGBS (now WPSG) and made it a UPN affiliate. However, as we all know, that's not how it was originally planned. Paramount, who owned WTXF before this all happened, was planning on bumping FOX off of WTXF and making the station the Philly UPN affiliate. Had this all happened, 29 might have been the station picking up The CW.

By the way, what is CW supposed to stand for anyway? No one has mentioned that.

CW comes from CBS and Warner Entertainment, the two companies that will own the new network.
