A tired newscaster?

I just saw a KCAL midday news show the other day for the first time in a long time and wondered, what happened to Mia Lee? Apart from that complete blonde look she appears to have aged quickly. She looked alot thinner and tired. Not the bubbly brunette I remember awhile back.

Yeah - it's called growing older, and there a lot of non-newscasters (i.e." regular people") who are like that, too. I don't know Mia Lee, but I've noticed that here in the Bay Area, there has been less of that old established tendency to fire female newscasters as they get older.

That's a good thing. But the women in particular get a lot of criticism for looking old, or they get ridiculed if they go for plastic surgery to hold onto their looks. Cheryl Jennings in the Bay Area is an example - she's been with KGO-TV for 25 years or longer, but she's probably pushing 60 now. On a blog recently, somebody refered to her as a "dinosaur." Unkind, to say the least.

I have known a number of people in TV news who came under extreme pressure from their employers
to undergo plastic surgery (one actually retired rather than go through with it). Not all of them were female either.
I imagine when HD started to roll out they really cranked-up the pressure.

Look at LA Female Newscasters and Cable propagandists I noticed that they all have to look like swimsuit Models. But when I look at the Bay Area Female reporters they tend to be more respected and honored like Wendy Tokuda, Cheryl Jennings, Carolyn Tyler, Leslie Brinkley. They have been in the San Francisco Market for over 20 years. as a 20 year old guy I like Wendy Tokuda, Cheryl Jennings, Carolyn Tyler, Leslie Brinkley in my newscasts over the LA Female Newscasters.and cable propagandists because I think the LA and Cable ones are not really into real news like the Bay area ones are.
