A-11 was written by Hank Cochran and it became Johnny Paycheck's first country hit in 1965---his first two singles didn't chart. Buck Owens recorded it in late 1988. When did Conway Twitty record it?

Let me play around with a few titles:

Play A Simple Melody - Horst Jankowski
Play For Keeps - Jaye P Morgan
Play It Again Sam - Tony Bennett
Play It Fair - LaVern Baker
Play It Fair - Chubby Checker/Dee Dee Sharp
Play Me - Neil Diamond
Play Me A Song I Can Cry To - Jerry Lee Lewis
Play Me Like A Yo-Yo - Silver Convention
Play Me No Sad Songs - Rex Allen Jr.
Play Me Or Trade Me - Mel Tillis/Nancy Sinatra

Yes, I know that the line in Casablanca was "Play it, Sam" and not "Play it again, Sam"---but apparently nobody told Tony Bennett!

Maybe he was thinking of Conway's 1977 No. 1 country hit "Play, Guitar, Play."
