Are the "The" songs to be listed according the the first letter of the second word of the title? I think this last post is the first one to include "The"s. Many worthy titles have been skipped during the course of this exercise if we were supposed to be including "The" songs but didn't know it.

AlexBrowne has it correct. The second word should be used when alphabetizing. It seemed odd that a station would play all the "The" titles when they were in the T's, probably why I never heard The "Best of Times" in the B's on an A to Z special a few years ago. :)

Maneater - Hall & Oates
Maniac - Michael Sembello
Manic Monday - Bangles
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett

That's the way WDRC-FM Hartford does its A to Z, too, with the "The" songs all lumped together. Must have something to do with the way the songs are indexed in the station's computerized library. The DRC A to Z, incidentally, has always started with songs having punctuation as the first character in the title, followed by songs that begin with numerals, then the A's. For the first several years of the special, the first song was John Lennon's "#9 Dream." This past year, with the playlist trimmed substantially, it was B.J. Thomas' "(Hey, Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song." So you'd hear "(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance" days before you'd hear "The Man With All the Toys." And yes, there was one year in which the Christmas songs were included!

"May The Bird Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" - "Little" Jimmy Dickens
"Maybe" - The Chantels
"Maybe Baby" - The Crickets
"Maybe I Know" - Lesley Gore
"Maybe I'm Amazed" - Wings
