Mister howard, you're right about Universal Coward. Jan Berry wrote it in response to Donovan's Universal Soldier. Dean Torrance didn't like it and refused to sing it so Jan recorded it as a solo. It was on Jan & Dean's Folk 'N' Roll album. When it was released as a single (Liberty 55845) in October 1965, it was credited to Jan Berry.
