Shirelles also did a version, but The Bob B Sox version was more popular.

A Day In the Life-The Beatles

Whenever an Oldies or a Classic Rock Station had an A-Z weekend, this was always the first song, A comes before ABC, Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie would be last.

WDRC-FM Hartford started its A to Z's with titles beginning with punctuation. John Lennon's "#9 Dream" was the first song played, followed by a bunch of songs with parentheses around the first words of their titles. Titles beginning with numbers came next.

I think the ground rules for this list have the "A" and "The" songs being listed by the second word of their titles, though.

CT, I might be the only person in the world who alphabetizes songs by the first word, even if it's "a" or "an" or "the." And not every title is standardized; for example, Herb Alpert recorded Taste Of Honey and the Beatles recorded the song as A Taste Of Honey. Another example: Smokey Robinson sang The Tracks Of My Tears and Linda Ronstadt recorded it as Tracks Of My Tears. At any rate, what is the point in starting this thread over? How about we try to get an Internet radio station to play all the songs we've named? That would be a much more betterer accomplishment!

I agree. I'm staying out of the restarting of this thread. The only purpose I can see for it is to stuff the list with '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, country titles, soul titles and album tracks from the very start. The thread didn't start out that way; it was a very specific list limited to '50s and '60s songs, hence its placement in the '50s/'60s forum.
 
How about listing every song that has title words starting with A and Z? That should make for a short list!
