Cox in Jacksonville launched Power 106.1 2 months ago and is kicking a$$ in Duval.. and 225 watt translator has knocked 93.3 the beat from it s number one spot!!! In fact power is number 1 in the 18-34 demographic!!!

But I thought Cox was awful at urban radio, given that noted failure that is WBHJ-FM... ;D

pretty simple when you are up against Cheap Channel

speaking of translators... STREETZ 94.5 Atlanta is the most listened too station nationwide on a translator. Nothing to really brag on, but I really don't like how some companies thrown the Urban formats on translators versus a big stick.

That's a pretty lofty claim...I'm curious about the source, too.

A poster on the Atlanta board posted it. I believe it's someone out of Hegwood's camp as all his post are related to Hegwood's stations.

what I can say is Streetz 94.5 is the most listened to translator station in the country
with 400,000 6+ persons !

(very reliable source)

And for all people that want to own and program a station Just do it!
Stop complaining about Clear Channel, Cumulus & Cox Media
If you're as good as you think you are? Get some money and buy a station
there are plenty available.

On July 25, 2013, the "Ricky Smiley Morning Show" debuted today in Jacksonville, FL on Cox Radio's "Power 106.1". I think this is a good move because Jacksonville finally has a syndicated morning show on a hip-hop station that fits the format unlike the "Steve Harvey Morning Show" on its rival, Clear Channel's "93.3 The Beat", which fits an Urban AC station rather than a Mainstream Urban radio station.
