A used Rolex? Seriously?

They've edited the spot to remove the "previously owned" parts.

1. you may or may not be correct about Mike Peppers ability to evaluate talent, and we will see in TIME, but I'd think the folks in NYC for CBS have some say over the on-air talent....not simply a local PD.

The local PD at these CBS FM stations often has little to no input in hiring talent. It's an administrative position.

Usually the market manager and people from NY call the shots on the high-profile hires.

In what reality are Rich Herrera, Scott Ledger, Chris Dingman, Justin Powlowski, Gary Shelton, et al considered "high-profile?"

If they're on weekdays the local PD didn't make the decision to hire them. The PD might hire update people and weekenders.

It's obvious no one like the lineup... Who should they have hired?

I've always been a fan of Toby David. Unlike Herrera, Toby has better knowledge of baseball, and he doesn't look at the Rays through rose colored glasses. In general, the sports media in Tampa is soft on all the pro teams. The Fan and WDAE can't risk losing their press passes and their chance to gorge on free food at the stadiums. I haven't heard TD on the air for a while. Maybe he also got tired of the BS management of the Fan.

Yeah, that's what it's all about.

Wow.

Tampa Bay media are soft? Well how about those tough guys in the Boston press corps who let the beer&chicken party of Red Sox go completely unreported until the Boston Globe assigned someone in the news side to get the story. Being "tough" has nothing to do with making an ass out of yourself by being confrontational in press conferences.

Hey, I'm the 6th listener. Anything for a cheap ass Rolex............ ;D
