A waste of HD Space

Thanks to Austin radio for wasting HD Side Bands.

KAMX - no side band
KASE - KASE2
KISS - KISS2
KFMK - La Preciosa
KROX - No side band
KPEZ - KPEZ2

The only people doing it right are

KKMJ - Oldies side band
KGSR - Austin side band
KUT - NPR / BBC side bands
KVET - "Rockin" Country - not great, but not KVET2

Why did I waste money on HD radio for "better, local programming"? Clear Channel doesn't even locally program their channel, they run horrid canned feeds... "Stevie's Boom Room", "New Country" and "Truckin Country"

Vomit.

i have a hd radio, used it onetime last year when i bought it and wasn't satisifed with our stations programming.
hopefully this year or next year or so, i turn it back on when the stations have better programming.

Don't forget about KBPA, they do Bob's Smooth Jazz Lounge, and it sounds locally produced. But I agree with you, most of the CC stations are throw-away. I really wish KHFI would put something more fun on theirs... like dance, or party hits. And KASE? How about Classic Country or something?

I think your chief complaint turned around the other way answers your question. Why should CC or any station "waste money" programming a channel that they can't sell? They can't sell spots on HD until it's measured in the book. Why should they throw money at a service that isn't generating any?

If you're wanting to spend money on alternative programming, you'll need to go with satellite radio. Terrestrial HD won't be local in this decade.

I dont see HD even working. With from what I understand, it only works 1% of the covarage analog. I bet it drops out a lot on Hot 93?? I'm not using HD any more I can hardly get it 30 miles south of Austin, much less 84 miles away from Houston. I can get FM stereo great in both places with a dipole antenna! If your in downtown it may work OK. But everyone surrounding it I bet has a heck of a problem picking it up.

Yea KHFI should have had a Dance HD format instead of the crap they have now. I am sticking to my Sirius Satalite Radio.

Pride Radio DFW is local and reallly good on KHKS-HD2

KHMX-HD2 in Houston with Digital Energy is really good also.

As far as selling spots - KHKS-HD2 is selling spots apparently... I heard ads on there the other day when I was streaming - not to mention a "live-ad" from Jen Austin.

It works if you want it too. CC Austin is just lazy.
