A weird banner ad

On the National TV Board I've run into a banner ad several times about getting ready for the digital TV switchover. I clicked on the link and found out that it was a website about the digital TV switchover in the UK! Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/en/how.html

I know that these ads come randomly from Google, but I thought it was weird that an ad for the British digital TV conversion would come in here in the US.

Also has anyone seen the Old Time TV ad any more that was selling bootleg copies of TV shows come up any more?

I had another weird one to come up in the thread about Fox's censorship of the Emmys. When the topic turned to Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in the Super Bowl, there was a banner ad with the headline "Janet Jackson Nude!" I won't post the link for that one. ::)

Will my post cause this same ad to come up in this thread?

Hmmm...I think another poster mentioned Janet Jackson first on this thread, but I was the first to mention the famous euphemism "wardrobe malf..." /i] uh...well, you know. Is there now some kind of banner ad that searches out words on the internet blogs, and inserts banner ads? That could prove to be very frustrating

It's not happening on my computer.

I'm wondering if cookies tie into how this works. I also go to the Memphis, Nashville, Tennessee, Religious, and the other National TV boards, and the banner ads will be tied into something from those boards as well.

Google crawls the pages of the board and remembers what topic it discusses. Then they try to serve "relevent" ads.
