What's up with the rumor about a return to standards? I was hoping this was news about 1530, though under ideal conditions I can pick up this station too.

This sounds like a station that could be highly friendly to brokered programming, like CC's WBZT West Palm Beach or WHNZ Tampa.

There's gotta be a better format than this. I was hoping the Standards rumor would have been true, even if it does skew older.

I know a few of those show, mostly the cinci based ones, dr laura, and joy brown. It looks like the only standout in that line-up would be Boortz. Who I haven't heard enough of to have any opinion about.

What are Clark Howard and Joey Reynolds about?

Clark Howard does a Financial / Consumer Advocacy show. He's pretty good -- very popular in his hometown of Atlanta.

He's like Dave Ramsey without the religious preaching that goes along with his show. Clark Howard has the #1 show on WSB in Atlanta and its been that way for years.

The whole format is scrap heap programming. Let's hope that after the dust has settled, CC decides to free up the frequencies it no longer loves.

It does look like its second rate programming at best. Lets hope its temporary.

Maybe having the programming of so many stations being in the hands of so few individuals is eliminating any kind of originality and fresh ideas. It makes you wonder how much thought is really given into each stations sucess.

Back in 96 it was Info-Radio 1360 WAZU. Lots and lots of brokered programming. Network stuff too. CNN was the base. Whoopie. Homer 2 sounds good to me.

I remember when it was "The New Wink", a top 40 or hot AC station. I don't remember the year.

Around 1985 or 1986, it was WWNK-AM, a simulcast of WWNK-FM (Wink 94.1). It was AC, but not hot AC by any means.

Chalk up another win for the right-wing thought police at Crap Channel.

Yet another station full of right-wing hate talk, and not a single liberal show among any of its stations in the market.

Yet they call it the "liberal media." They really do.

Gary Sullivan is right-wing hate talk? Okay, I need some clarification on that one. I mean..is he only taking calls from right-handed do it yourselfers and leaving those left-handed commie pinkos to stumble around Home Depot clueless?

I love it....was Clear Channel being right-wing evil bastards when they put AA on in the first place? Here is the truth <okay it's my opinion, but it's my post so I'll call it what I want. ;-) > CC thought there would be an audience for liberal talk and that folks would flock to it without them having to do a lot of work to promote it and make it sound good. They didn't, so now CC is trying another el cheapo format.

It's crappy radio...I'll grant ya that. However, it's financially biased, not political. If lib talk had made money, it would still be on. Once Springer bailed, it was just a matter of time.

I wasn't referring to Gary Sullivan. I was referring to some of the others.

CC deliberately set liberal talk up for a fall by putting it on such a weak signal and basically treating the format poorly once it arrived. Still, it had decent shares considering the signal.

As opposed to the left-wing hate talk that's been on 1360...... The only liberal on there with an ounce of common sense was Ed Schultz.

Btw, while not phonetically similar sounding, has anybody noticed how close The SOURCE appears in spelling to The SOUND?

Neal Boortz is a faux libertarian. I believe he is on WHIO at 9am. Joey Reynolds is the only show on there worth listening to. It's just a goofy late-night talk show, a good alternative to all the UFO and conspiracy talk on C2C. But isn't Reynolds on WPFB at the same time?

Explain to me how Liberal talk was set up to fall in cincinnati when it was originally on a 50,000 watt signal at 1530 before the Homer/Libtalk Switch earlier this year

I was wondering that too Mike, but figured if he thinks CC deliberately set a station up to fail, then he's just too politically minded to have a discussion with.

Right-wing whackos..left-wing loonies...I don't have time for any of em.

and I believe you're right that WPFB carries Joey Reynolds. Of course, you must remember that WPFB is run by incompetent buffoons. Listen to Imus in the Morning Monday to find out just how inept they really are. They show total contempt for their programming and it's audience. They are more interested in running constant public service announcements and joining the show in progress when it suits them. Anything CC can do to steal their programming and leave them to carry Trans-Siberian Orchestra records is worth it.
