AA3..weird..HELP!

Okay I had not seen this before. Yesterday I recorded a voice track and went to save it as an MP3 file. As usual I hit Save As..etc, but when the file type came up is was listed as MP3Pro (*wav,*mp3) and SAVED it as a WAV file.

The only way I could get it to save as an MP3 was to type "MP3" on the end of the file name. Never saw the "WAV" extension in there with the "MP3" extension before..and all of the other machines running AA3 don't have it..it only lists "MP3" as a file extension.

Emmett?..anyone..How can I fix this?

After typing mp3 at the end of the file, it should have reset...Should be all good now.

I remember this coming up once before, but I don't remember the exact details. It has something to do with a default extension getting changed within Audition. Go out as though you were going to save a file and scroll through all the choice for file types and look over at the far right side. My memory is that at the left of each line the NAME of the file type is given.... but over to the right the 3-letter extension will be show and it can get "boogerd up". Maybe this will stir up someones memory.

Had this precise thing happen the other day, and Emmett is right....after typing the .mp3 in the file name did "re-set" it, cuz it's been fine since.

Nope..I have to type the .mp3 extension in every time or it saves as .wav

The strrange thing is when you go into the listings of file types after selecting SAVE AS

it literally looks like this:

MP3Pro (.mp3,.wav)

and it will save as .wav if I don;t physically type in the .mp3 extension on every file. Did MP3pro come up with something I hadn;t hear of? I don't have that (.mp3,.wav) listing in any of my other instances of AA3..just (.mp3)

After saving, try re-opening one of the saved files. See if that corrects it.This problem arises because wav isn't a file type, but a wrapper...It can store any kind of data. It's like the mp2 files with a wav extension that are used by some automation systems.

As excited as I was to try AA 3.0, I found it kinda cumbersome to work with, and I went back to AA 1.5..just a personal preference thing, 3.0 had some neat Izotope processing...wonder if there's a way to load those onto 1.5 as plug ins??

I use Ozone plugs with 1.5. No issues.
