AAA/Alt KROI????

The Ranch plays George, Clint, Garth, Martina, and the like, but also Waylon, Willie, Jerry Reed, Merle, and other icons from the 70's. Every time I punch up CL 97.1 on the truck, it's pretty soon that I'm reaching for a different button. The problem is that there's very little 70's country music on 97.1, and too much from this century. I think that's a mistake, but the demographics are much different in Houston than they are here in ETX."

Check out this article, which compares Classic Country formats and includes Country Legends 97.1: https://radioinsight.com/ross/189174/classic-country-is-good-in-a-crisis/

Something tells me Radio One isn't selling it. They just started building the tower for that construction permit they've had for a few years. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the current format dies when KROI fires up the new site.

The new KROI site is ten miles northwest of the current stick. It will be somewhat shorter (1381' HAAT vs. 1726') but the power will almost double. Best signal improvement will be in the western third of the market, where the new transmitter will be 8 to 10 miles closer, depending on specific receiver location. In the central third, 3-7 miles closer. For the eastern third the distance change is insignificant.

I agree that the launch of the new signal would be a great time for a format flip, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

Any visible sign of tower construction or is this just heard through the grapevine?
