I sometimes wonder who people with more eclectic tastes listen to in Providence, but the answer may be WBRU. I don't think this is the market for AAA as much as I'd love to see it happen. It's an old market and isn't getting any younger. AAA listeners are more apt to seek out their music anywhere but on the radio. If I were programming AAA in Providence, I'd naturally have to play the new stuff but would go very heavy on classic, familiar music and maybe deeper cuts by familiar artists. I'd also be very selective with new music rather than try to educate listeners as to what they should like. I hate to say it, but I don't think any format or station is about to take Providence by storm. A real oldies station might pull some numbers, but not in the desired demographics.
