AAR's Randi Rhodes Looking For New Producer

Long time Randi Rhodes Show producer Tim Allan Walker is apparently no longer with the show. There's a new "help wanted" ad in the AllAccess jobs section for a new full-time producer for the show.

Tim came up to AAR shortly after Randi started. He was her regular producer at WJNO/West Palm Beach. During AAR's financial crisis shortly after it started, Randi covered at least one of Tim's paychecks to keep him there.

Tim Allan Walker is still listed on Randi's website. No mention is made in the ad of whose slot is being filled.

The ad asks for production and web/graphics skills. The term "producer" is used to cover a range of broadcast position, from the person in charge to board op. Their description sounds lower level.

Adding insult to injury: Randi's website has a sponsored link to Democracy Radio. The way she carries on about DR, about Ed Schultz and about how they accept donations (not mentioning that Schultz has bumped her show out of PM drive in most markets), having DR on her website must smart.

Randi v. Ed

Randi is in PM drive in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, San Diego, Portland OR and a bunch of other places. Her beef seems to be that she's not carried *live* everywhere, even though that would mean NOT being in PM drive in the west.
Edited by Scribbler on 08/13/05 06:39 PM.

Tim's Gone

Update: Tim Allan Walker is no longer listed on the "Team Randi" page. Jenny Falcon is listed as producer (she's already been there). There's another guy named Tim on the list, but that's not him.

Tim Allan Walker's bio is still on the server, though not linked anywhere, near as I can tell.

It's no wonder...

I have to admit, Ed Schultz has improved his delivery, is more glib and even his voice is less grating. Wonder why? Maybe he has a coach...

Meanwhile, Randi Rhodes is more abrasive than ever, less able to maintain a rap and seems on the verge of a nervous breakdown most of the time.

In my expert opinion, I should add...
______________

Is it me or is Randi's show getting more and more like Majority Report in the last few months? There seems to be a lot more lecturing, reading, and fawning over the political bigwigs, and a reduction in the amount of entertainment that goes along with the "college lecture" format.

I think Randi has been getting the idea that if she turns her show into an educational forum, it will help elect Democrats. Being one, I don't have a big problem with this, but I am wondering who she is talking to. If I didn't believe in the philosophy, I would only listen to be entertained. If the entertainment wasn't there, I wouldn't listen. That would mean her show would be "preaching to the choir."

Maybe it's just me after comparing her show to the far more entertaining Stephanie Miller Show.

Im not sure what was Tim's motivation to leave or was he asked to leave
or otherwise. At WJNO, Tim used to have content control of the RR website and message board, but many of those responsibilities were being "moved"/"taken away" to other groups. This was rumored to be a very sore point among other things.

The message board on the Rhodes' website might as well be state radio. It is extremely heavily moderated by volunteer forum managers who are trying to race each other to see who has the larger ego. New users are immediately deemed "on probation," and if they write something considered too negative during the probationary period, they and their IP will be banned from the forum.

Even after probation, the moderators there will rapidly remove anything they consider negative, in particular people who question why they are so power mad.

I stopped spending a lot of time there. I don't have time to worry about pleasing some 23 year old shut-in with no life on a power trip. I recall one of them telling people they know what they're doing - they've been moderating and been on the Internet for more than three whole years. My post noting I've been involved since the days of BBS's back in 1986 and that she didn't have a clue probably didn't endear me too much. Shucky darn.
