NC High School Athletic Association has a long-standing policy that prohibits live television coverage of high school athletic events.
Not an issue in some locales! High school football games in Alabama have been televised as far back as the 1960s. The stadium in my home town in Alabama seated over 20,000 and it was routinely sold out on Friday nights.
In Charlotte they've had high school games on Sunday afternoon on the My Network station.

I have been watching the new WTVD afternoon news. I enjoy it very much. I do have one question. They start out the broadcast saying they are in their Raleigh News Center. Is all of their news now broadcasted from Raleigh?

Thanks

I think the a.m. shows, as well as Eyewitness News at 6, 10 and 11 still come from Durham, while noon, 4 and 5 are from the Raleigh studio.

The NCHSA prohibition relates to LIVE telecasting of games.

+1
the NCHSA(A) will not permit LIVE
TV game BROADcasts. this does not
prohibit the school to air live telecasts
on their own website/whatever. so...
it takes two to compete, and one may
do it, but not the other. doesn't matter.

I wasn't aware of such a policy. I thought they just didn't want to pre-empt rasslin'. Or "Monk" this past season. That show is really good.

No one watches an entire newscast from start to finish. No one under the age of 65, anyway.

I do with the exception of sports programming within the 30-minute newscast, and I am under 65 by 15-years. However, I do not sit in one place for 2.5 hours watching the same news stores repeated over-and-over.

Has anybody ever ask you about the esquier in your name???? J?K just kidding, folks! But serously, did anything ever take over that other part of the WTVD news when they did the next thing or did they keep them both? I have not been able to listen since then!!!!!! ;) :D         ;D ;D

I do believe Larry Stogner, at WTVD has out stayed them all. He has been there since the Bob Debartellabenn and Charlie Gaddy days of WRAL.
