ABC/Disney Phasing Out Junk Food Ads

Its a good step in the right direction. But How come I hear the argument that we subsidize Obesity through giving money to certain crops like Corn, Sugar, soybeans and wheat. I heard that GMO's cause obesity according to various health journals. But wait Monsanto, ADM and Cargill give money to both parties every year.

Effective 2015, there will be new "nutrition guidelines" for advertisers of Disney's children's programming, including Disney Channel and Radio Disney. And yes, this also applies for ABC O&O's carrying the network Saturday morning children's programming block, which is outsourced to Litton.

Note though that Litton pretty much follows the guidelines already though, as they have no children's advertising at all and what little parent-to-child marketing there is basically is for fruit/vegetable blended juice products. Pretty much the networks have turned over most of what used to be kid's advertising over to the Focus Factors and Liberty Medicals of the world because the FTC makes it a deep chore to play a children's food ad for 30 seconds without a disclaimer these days, and those advertisers know just throwing a website or Facebook component will do much better for them.

So will Disney stop selling/licensing all of those Disney-themed cookies, crackers, candies, fruit drinks, etc.?.

Most likely. You know what they say: double standards make the world go round...

@Mrschimpf: Thanks for the info on the ad content during the ABC/Litton Saturday block. As someone who has sampled the commercials during the Fox/Rotfeld block - which is far from appealing to kids - I was actually curious about the filler on ABC.

I doubt Disney Theme parks will sell Salad or ethnic cuisine. For those people who are Anaheim near the Disneyland District and don't want to buy fast food at the theme park go to Garden Grove, Buena Park or Anaheim hills in the Vietnamese districts or the Hispanic districts for better food.
