ABC Family Names New President

Still can't see how ABC Family is part of Disney with all the sex shows and girls getting pregnant. Sure you would never see that stuff on Disney Channel. From my point of view ABC Family is Disney's Teen Channel as Teen Nick is Nick's Teen Channel.

At least people advertise on ABC Family. People do not advertise on TEEN NICK. Not all, but a vast majority of the "commercials" on TEEN NICK are promos for their shows and behind the scene specials. And they ought to change the name of TEEN NICK to DEGRASSI-TV since they show that show waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

Yes, excellent point. I generally only have this channel on if I surf across a rerun of That 70's Show.
Left it on that channel and when I turned it back on later that evening I was absolutely scandalized by
the very frank sex scene and discussion that was taking place between a teenage couple. I know this
is the norm on HBO, etc. but a network billing itself as "family" really should not be running such programming.

Honestly, I preferred "The N" and some of its original series -- which appealed to the Degrassi-type crown. Teen Nick is something that I would not admit to watching...
 
Riley was behind the sell off of Radio Disney properties. Wonder if they are now going to hang onto the stations scheduled to be spun off. Little Rock, Louisville, Providence and Hartford were scheduled to be spun off in the fourth quarter of this year.
 
I watched Sixteen Candles (btw a very under-rated film from the 80's), on ABC Family recently. I was amazed at how much of the original movie survived on the "family" channel. Much of the dialogue was unedited to my surprise. I both like and dislike this. It is nice to see a movie with the original content, on the other hand, some of the content didn't seem quite right for a "family" channel. Who knows...kind of depends on what the goals are for ABC-F. I predict this will be a major issue in the boardrooms of these type of channels. Perhaps, more importantly, these issues don't matter as much anymore with the total access that most have to almost every entertainment element these days.
 
Does Pat Robertson even know what's going on at his own network these days? ???

The Providence station - WDDZ AM 550 in Warwick has a kick-azz signal. Problem is their tower(s) is on an island in the middle of a creek and every time there's a decent amount of rain the site gets flooded and the station gets knocked off the air.

As for the Hartford Station - WDZK AM 1550 in Bloomfield - As much as I think Radio Disney is a waste of a format - 13 years of 1550 running Radio Disney programming makes it the most stable the station has been in a long time. Over the years 1550 has been Talk, Country Western (that was so long ago they actually still used the term CW), Spanish Religion, and a mix of Spanish and Italian Programming. Their studios are East of the river in Manchester.

That's exactly where you want an AM transmitter to be. the wettest, swampiest, muckiest land you can find. Raising the tower bases and transmitter shack up by about 10 feet would solve that problem.

I thought Teen Nick did have commericals, wouldn't know as I don't have digital cable. But I do know their sister channel Nick Jr. has no commericals.
 
Didn't know Teen Nick aired Full House and Sabrina. They need to get the rights to Boy Meets World. Wouldn't be any help to me as I don't get this channel on regular cable. Also to add about Teen Nick, I could see a couple shows on MTV moved to this network.

Boy Meets World airs on ABC Family 7AM-8AM Eastern Weekday mornings.

I saw that one time when I had to get up early one morning. But that is to early of a time for what was once a great show. If Teen Nick picked it up they could at least place it in a good time slot on the network. I remember the days it used to be on Disney Channel.
