ABC, FOX deemed Lane Bryant commercial 'racy'

Try checking those so-called "facts" again (not that we should expect as much coming from such a remark in the first place).

So you're going on the record as saying you want to see fat women in little clothing on TV?

Let see, Victoria's Secret models or Lane Bryant models? I think America would come to a pretty clear consensus on that one.

America has been brainwashed to believe that women like Ashley Graham are "fat" (she's actually thick). I'll take women like her any day over a VS-type model.

Nobody wants to see scantily-clad fat chicks on TV. Just a simple fact.

Did you actually see the ad, B-Rice?

News flash for you: The chick in the ad was HOT, far more attractive than most of the stick-skinny, outty belly button, anorexic style models that the likes of Victoria's Secret cranks out. And she was wearing MORE than you'd see in a V.S. ad or on any number of primetime shows. That ABC and FOX had agita over this ad had me shaking my head. It was no worse than any number of other ads I've seen. Honestly, it's far less offensive to all involved than the legion of male enhancement ads and their dire warnings of the infamous four-hour woodie.

Do ABC and FOX check for American consensus before they make any other programming decisions?

"Nah, America's not ready for __________________ [Modern Family, Family Guy, Three's Company, you fill in the blank]. Let's not run that."

So far, at least lately, the only thing they seem to have any filter to turn down is this Lane Bryant ad and that anti-abortion ad with Tim Tebow in it.

What, BRNout, no jokes about us being in agreement? :D (Just kidding.)

Couldn't agree more with your thoughts about the model and the commercial content in general.

As for getting consensus--well, there is no such thing. You can have one camp that objects to racy undergarments, regardless of whether it's Victoria's Secret of Layne Bryant. Another camp, represented so classlessly by our own BRice thinks...well, BRN said it best. And another group probably objects to yet something else...and finally you have those of us who fail to see the big issue (no pun intended). So what's the consensus there? And should they run every spot by the public? It's simply not practical for a host of reasons.

No, they made a judgement call, and though there are conflicting reports about just what the issue was, they got a little flack. Could be the company making some overstated allegations, could be something else. But in a week, it will be little more than a distant memory, except for those who bookmarked the YouTube clip.

Someone has produced a parody of this ad. At the point where the model looks down at her cell phone the phrase "McRib is Back!" appears on it. Then she proceeds to get dressed and go out.

When reporting on this controversy CNN used the parody fake ad and not the real one...LOL! :D
