ABC looking at game shows to

How are the ratings on these? I've watched them some, but other times I forget about them if other things are on that I want to watch instead. I haven't seen Family Feud much because of being at work sometimes. Pyramid seemed to be good, but Match Game in its early weeks at least was raunchier than they have ever been on some questions. I haven't seen it in recent weeks.

I still can't help but wonder if this will be the typical way that the networks have used game shows in recent years, mainly as filler in the Summer and Holiday season.

Interesting that not many new game shows have been launched in daytime. They're cheaper to do than dramas, and the talk show thing seems to have run out of steam. Maybe two years ago.

Very good. The CBS shows are still doing better even though they're reruns, but then they always seem to do better than everything. NBC was also doing better with its competition shows.

It was pretty outrageous but it seems to have cleaned up its act.

Do you mean CBS' Sunday Night lineup, or their games shows (TPIR/LMAD)? As for Sunday night, remember, not everything is reruns. 60 Minutes is always new and we have new eps of Big Brother at 8/7c, which competes with ABC's Celebrity Family Feud for ratings.

"Live" is syndicated by Disney-ABC Television Distribution. It is not an ABC program, although it airs on loads of ABC stations.

I thought "Live!" was an ABC network program until it showed up on the local CBS affiliate several years ago after being on the ABC affiliate for years

IF there were to be a daytime incarnation of one or either new Sunday night show, syndication is the better bet. Apart from due diligence of always keeping an eye on the market, there'd be no point in rushing a View cancellation. The show is off its peak--but it's 20 years old and still delivering good, solid numbers in the target demographic, for not a heck of a lot of cost. It's another vehicle for ABC to cross-promote, and it still manages to get buzz (among the audience that matters).

Tossing that away too casually for what could be a nostalgia-driven blip would seem to not be worth the downside risk. If the audience interest holds when the games return for season 2, and if the View is slipping drastically, then it would be one option to contemplate.

But syndication, to replace Millionaire, next fall could be a route for one of the shows, if it looked like you could cobble together enough stations outside the O&Os to make it work.
