ABC News Radio anchorman George Weber found dead

Terrible.

Weber was becoming one of my favorite ABC News Anchors. He had a great voice, and a great delivery.

Last night when I set my alarm clock I debated whether or not I wanted to get up just before 0800 to hear George's top of the hour newscast, or sleep in until 9, when Pam Coulter takes over (west coast).

I chose to sleep in. Even if I'd gotten up early, I wouldn't have heard him.

George was a good guy who did a nice job in general--and added an awful lot to the fine Curtis and Kuby Show on WABC. It's not easy to be a news anchor in a situation in which two opinionated talk show hosts periodically invade your newscast to make comments on stories, but George was a master of that kind of situation.

Ron Kuby has been commenting on his Air America show as post-mortem events develop and has been making very wise observations--nothing new in that regard for Mr. Kuby--a very intelligent and compassionate man.

seems like alot of people are "distancing" themselves from this situation..."e was a freelancer that worked hear I guess"
