...interesting. Nothing but cartoons, sports and 15 minutes of news. Why do I get the feeling ABC got all the pot smokers that day? ;-) ...

What shows usually aired on ABC's Saturday night lineup during the 1976-77 season? I'd assume that Game 1 of the NLCS preempted regular programming.

Here is the regular schedule:

12:30 American Bandstand (sometimes preempted or reduced from its hour format for NCAA Football in the fall)
1:30 NCAA Football (actually various times, I just put in the approximate starting time)
5:00 Wide World of Sports
6:30 The Reasoner Report
7:00 Local Programming
8:00 Holmes and Yo-Yo (comedy about a detective and his android partner)
8:30 Mr. T and Tina (Welcome Back Kotter spinoff with Pat Morita)
9:00 Starsky and Hutch
10:00 Most Wanted
11:00 Weekend News

ABC's Saturday-night lineup that year was a colossal flop, except for 'Starsky and Hutch', which bounced around the schedule for its last few years.
'Most Wanted' at least got to finish the season in its time slot, but the two sitcoms were dead within six weeks, and are usually mentioned only in discussions of 'Worst TV shows ever made'.(Morita did make a guest appearence in character as 'Mr. T' on 'Welcome Back, Kotter', but ABC had probably already decided to cancel Morita's show by the time the guest shot took place.)

IIRC, ABC had canceled "The Reasoner Report" the year
before and was airing a regular newscast at 6:30 (ET)
with Ted Koppel as anchor. I do recall I was in Georgia
that fall; neither WXIA nor WLOS carried ABC's news
(WXIA had local news; WLOS, "The Gong Show"), and
when I moved to Texas in December WFAA was also
pre-empting in favor of "The Gong Show".
