ABC Talkradio network

Does anyone have any recollections of the old ABC Talkradio network that was carried locally on 970 in the early 80s? I remember a British gentleman in the afternoon and a lady shrink. Also Sally Jesse Raphael of TV fame in the evenings. This was before TAE went talk. I think 970 dropped this format before it was cancelled nationally. Their overnight guy was the best, Ira something. He could talk intelligently about anything. At 2 in the morning! I think Tom Snyder was in this mix also.

If you find a copy, let me know. I'd also love to have a copy of those!

Ah, yes...1982.

The British guy you're thinking of is (the other) Michael Jackson, a KABC legend. See http://www.michaeljacksontalkradio.com/MJ_PressMedia/Times040824.htm. At 70, he's still going strong on KINX.

Late-nights were Ira Fistel (who I want to say was from Boston). Sally Jesse was indeed in the mix. In Pittsburgh, the local hosts were Scott Cassidy (held over from WWSW) and Doug Hoerth (in his first Pittsburgh gig). Calls were WTKN (We're Talkin' Pittsburgh).

Ira Fistel is in Los Angeles.

Sally Jesse joined up with ABC TalkRadio after a long stint at NBC TalkNet, and as the OP remembered, veteran talk show host Tom Snyder was also offered in the evenings.

Michael Jackson's current home station is KNX, an Infinity all-news outlet in Los Angeles, where he does long-form interviews. His last long-form talk radio gig was at Clear Channel's KLAC/570, which now is the home of their "XTRA Sports" format.

The callsign was WTKN.

I believe the British gentleman was Michael Jackson (the Los Angeles talk show host, not the singer).
I recall the shrink but not her name.
