ABC Threatens to Pull Affiliation from WLNE

The big station groups (Hearst, ABC, Fox, CBS) could work together to in essence merge the Providence DMA into Boston's DMA by stripping the network affiliations off the Providence stations, or maybe only leaving 1 or 2 network stations there (I'm not sure if Nielsen would say 1 network affiliate could co-exist but not two or more for it to be part of Bos DMA). Providence is within Boston's CSA, and getting the Bos DMA the size of the CSA will be good news for all the Bos stations.

I like the idea but it'll never go, as they say "too much like right" :)

The question now is: Will WLNE no longer be a loser?

As Citadel is notorious for its cheapness (its other stations close down overnight every night), I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Anyone has to be able to run this station better than whoever is in charge now. Even if they could only grab what are considered the "second-tier" syndicated shows ("Rachael Ray" or "Family Feud" for example), that would be an improvement from infomercials and "Steven & Chris."

But now does the CBSTD lawsuit still apply to WLNE, or is that just under Global Broadcasting's head solely rather than WLNE? I never heard anything if they settled it or if it was dissolved because of the bankruptcy making it moot.
