ABC World News...Goof?

The kicker on tonight's (Tuesday August 17) ABC World News (6:30/5:30)
was about the death of Bobby Thomson and featured his "shot heard round
the world" in the 1951 NL playoffs.

While the intro graphic was correct--the story used old newsreel footage with
Russ Hodges' famous call of the game-winning home run--I'm not sure the still
pic at the end was of Bobby Thomson. To me, it looked more like Alvin Dark
(who was on the '51 NY Giants).

The clip is viewable on the ABC News website--

I'm seeing technical and research gaffes on networks in numbers not seen since the early days of television. Two words: Budget Cuts.

ABC recently laid off around 400 employees, maybe more, because of budget cuts. One of those laid off was Brian Rooney, who not only was a good reporter, but once worked here in Rochester NY.

Some companies think they are trimming the fat when they have these massive layoffs when the truth is they are cutting to the bone.

...it seems as if PBS' History Detectives is based on technical and research gaffes. These "Detectives" make Inspector Clouseau look like Simon Templar ;-) ...
