ABC15 Changes

I heard today at the very end of ABC15 Daybreak that Connie Colla is moving to Anchor with Kirk Yunke. Susan and Rebecca are going to be starting a new ABC 15 NOW show at 3 pm in two weeks. Smart Family is no more which is what show Connie was on with Daphne Munro. I wonder if ABC 15 will still have a half hour news show at 4

Apparently. You don't usually get same-names in this business (there are two Kate Sullivans, but I can't think of much more). She was at 12 at this time, hosting their morning news with...Ron Hoon? (When was he NOT at 10?)

I think their 4pm news is intact BTW.

Good move on Connie's part. She's much too talented (IMHO) to be shackled to Munro.

I. for one, am going to miss Susan and Rebecca in the mornings. However, it seems that not many viewers agreed with me. I was not in Phoenix for Connie Colla's previous run, so I hope this works for ABC15 Morning News.

Connie Colla co-anchored 12 News Today in the early to mid 90's with Ron Hoon at channel 12. After she left channel 12, Ron Hoon was paired up with Catherine Anaya, now at CBS 5 KPHO.

It just sounds like all the stations in Phoenix steal each other's talent! :D

A little over a year ago KNXV moved "Sonoran Living" from 9am to 11am so they could launch "Now@9" at 9am. Then they created "Smart Family" at 3pm with Daphne and Connie (yes, the same Connie who was at 12 many years ago).

One year later, KNXV bought a new show- "Right this Minute"- but didn't know exactly where to put it. Sponsors and advertisers were not happy with their results in "Sonoran Living"'s new time slot, and "Now@9" and "Smart Family" weren't doing as well as hoped.

It made sense then, to put "Right This Minute" in at 11, move "Sonoran Living" back to 9am, and kill "Now@9" and "Smart Family".

SO.. most of the staff from "Now@9" will move to the new "Now@3" show, leaving Connie to join the morning team and Daphne better able focus on her "Smart Shopper" segments.

What else y'all wanna know?! ;D

My understanding was that Scripps dictated that all their stations run the new "Right This Minute" show, which also has several Phoenix-based talent (i.e. Nick Calderon who was at 12 and Gayle Bass from 3 and radio). Is that not correct? Something had to give -- basically Smart Family and 30 minutes of the "Now" show.
