ABC15 Starting the Valley's Only Hour Long 6pm Newscast

I saw an advertisement announcing that ABC15 will be starting the Valley's only hour-long 6pm newscast effective July 7th.

Since they will be starting the Scripps infotainment show at 4pm in the fall, I suppose this effectively moves the 4pm half-hour newscast to 6:30pm.

Any thoughts?

It only took a decade for someone to decide that KPHO needed competition at 6:30.

The Scripps' ABC station in San Diego (KGTV) has evening news from 5:00 until 6:30pm, then ABC Network news at 6:30 and back to local news show at 7:00pm. I wondered how long it would take Scripps to make changes at ABC15 to have a longer news show (and yes, maybe give CBS5 some competition).
