ABC's "All My Children" ends on a cliff-hanger

I knew it was coming, but JR Chandler-The Most Despickable man in Pine Valley, had to crash Stewart's welcome home party-By pulling a gun, and fatally shot one of the Party Guests over at The Chandler Mansion. Instead of going out on a high note, ABC has really did screwed things up. "AMC" will now be seen online. And I Hope ABC won't screw everything up on "One Life", which does'nt have much left to live. As of Monday, "AMC" will be replaced by The new cooking show, "The Chew".

I guess someone at ABC decided to end the program this way to get the audience interested in receiving the serial on the World Wide Web.

The staff of the would want people to watch the online version if it ever materializes....ABC couldn't care less. Time to move on.

Anyone remember the old 70s sitcom "Soap"?

The season ended with many massive cliffhangers. Then they got word the show was canceled. Therefore, no resolution.

Given the parody nature of the show, I still rank it as the best series finale in TV history.

A cliff-hanger makes sense because the show is moving to some new streaming website. They aren't sure how many of the cast members are coming back, so having an unknown number killed in the ABC finale is very logical.

I was thinking about yesterday's episode because it took the elements of "Dallas", along with "The Sopranos", and finally, the frankly speech giving out to Erica from Jack-as an homage to the all-time film classic, "Gone with The Wind". and I think there's plenty more to say about The Big AMC screw job. Stay Tuned...

Apparently, "Soap" was a series known for its convoluted storylines and cliffhangers -- the reason announcer Rod Roddy ended each show's recap / next episode preview with "Confused? You won't be, after watching this (or next) week's episode of Soap."

No; you were probably thinking of M*A*S*H, which was watched by about 105 million people (before it was eclipsed by Super Bowls XLIV and XLV)

But...I'm thinking the trigger was pulled on Erica, just like how Tony Soprano finished his last meal. Now we're waiting for the various YouTube mashups of this...

If "All My Children" is going online it had better do so quickly, before
people forget how the finale on ABC ended. A little history lesson:
CBS wanted to drop "Edge Of Night" and expand "As The World Turns"
to an hour in September 1975; "Edge" was to move to ABC and back to
a late-afternoon slot instead of the 2:30/1:30 slot it had had on CBS
since 1972. Trouble was, ABC had started running a revival of "You Don't
Say!" at 4/3 in July and didn't have room for "Edge" before December. Apparently
Procter & Gamble thought that if "Edge" stayed off for three months the
audience would forget the storyline by the time ABC began airing it. So CBS
stayed with it; "ATWT" went to an hour on Dec. 1, and "Edge" moved to ABC
the same day. No continuity problems (although a lot of people lost "Edge" in
the move to ABC because of affiliate pre-emptions).

The point here is that I've heard that an online version of "AMC" would not be
ready before December, and again there's a chance that its viewers will have
forgotten what took place at the end yesterday. So the sooner it moves online
(if it does), the better for the show's fans.

I still cast my vote for "Guiding Light"'s ending as the best I've seen.

I remember it. Funny as all get out. It was right up there with the days of Mary Hartman Mary Hartman. LOL

I haven't seen that soap opera in about 20 years. Was Erica still sitting in a chair doing nothing but looking pretty, like a diva?

The MASH finale was overrated, IMO. Too melodramatic. I liked it better in the early days when it was a comedy show.

Then again, I actually liked the Seinfeld finale as well. I actually 'got' it.

I liked the Soap finale just because of the whole irony of it. That's my opinion, and I'm stickin' to it.

Did anyone notice that Daniel Cosgrove has been on the last 3 soaps cancelled and was on their final episodes? He was Bill Lewis on Guiding Light in 2009,Christopher Hughes on As The World Turns in 2010,and Scott Chandler on All My Children. He was also on Beverly Hills 90210 and was probably on their final episode. If I had a show,I'd be afraid to hire him!

So Daniel Cosgrove is the "Ted McGinley" of Soap Operas? lol I think Cosgrove was a cast member of those soaps before they were announced as being cancelled. However, Cosgrove left Beverly Hills 90210 a few episodes before the finale.

That's what I meant. After Daniel joined a show, it was cancelled!

RadioFan, my mistake, I was trying to get across that Daniel Cosgrove was a cast member before the shows were announced as being cancelled. And, I believe, he wasn't hired afterwards.
