Abdul Has Been Cancelled

Re: Abdul Has Been Canceled

interesting a newspaper story saying he is leaving but no mention on the WXNT website.it even promotes a cocktails and conversation night hosted by him Aug 25Th.

Abdul is an intelligent man who has worked hard to get an great education and do something with it. i respect him for that.

he is though an elitist.i remember him talking about an poll with opinions with people who attended college and people who didn`t go to college.

his words were "people who attended college and the uneducated".like people who didn`t go to college are village idiots.his general attitude seemed to show eitism.

i wish the best for his future though.

the coctails and conversation promotion doesn`t mention abdul in it but does not say he won`t be there .

I love one of the comments to that Indy Star article, "Skjodt? As in Simon's daughter? Putting hoosiers out of work." So true. I believe this is somewhere around numbers 18 and 19 that she's put out of work in the I believe 2 (maybe 2 1/2) years she's been there.

Always hate to someone leave a job not on their own terms. Hopefully this isn't the case here, and he is moving on to something else.

Any mention of who replaces him? Syndication time?

Where is Abdul going?

The sad truth is only one sales person really sells for WXNT and they never gave the show opportuniities to earn money. They only really care about playing the agency game with their FM's.

Would WXNT be doing better if the following happened:

-Stronger signal to reach a wider area
-Less signal drop (aka less dead air)...seems to happen several times a day now
-More developed, local programming interspersed with the national programs (not just joe shmo with the money to be on air, but more people like Abdul, Pete the Planner, etc)
-Mandatory selling of the station (i.e. more spots on the air, less PSAs, means more of a demand)

Or is the station just destined to be the lowest billing in the market until it's costing more to run than it's bringing in and eventually goes off air?

Looks like Abdul is writing editorials for the Indy Star now.

Looks like the station has now lost half of its AQH.

Not surprising considering there is now no local coverage on a talk station. It's one thing with music based radio, it's much harder with talk/sports.

the only thing i listen to on WXNT now is phil hendrie overnight.

Boortz is one of the few good shows they carry, and it's delayed to evenings and missing the third hour. They really need to get rid of Glenn Beck. He may be a media sensation, but his radio show is awful. Free Talk Live at night is rather weak also.
