My opinion on that station is this.......


THEY HOLD ON TO RECORDS WAY TO LONG. IF A POWER(A ROTATION) SONG GETS BURNED.THEY WILL BURN IT EVEN MORE.IN THAT FORMAT RECORDS GET BURNED QUICK.POWER IS RE-BURNING A SONG THAT THE BEAT,MIX AND POWER BURN.SO WHEN THE BEAT IS OVER THAT SONG.POWER IS STILL PLAYING IT MAKING THE STATION SOUND DATED.I KNOW THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO BRING RESEARCH IN TO THIS.RESEARCH IS A GREAT TOOL BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY DECISIVE FORCE TO PROGRAM A STATION.MY COMMENTS ON THIS STATION ARE JUST MY OPINION.

POWER HAS TO LEAN MORE HISPANIC,IN THE MUSIC AND THEIR IMAGE.I'M NOT SAYING TO PLAY SELENA BUT PLAY SOME HISPANIC OR LATIN ARTIS LIKE PITTBULL,BABY BASH,SOME OF THOSE CHEZZZZZZY LOVE LATIN LOVE SONGS(NB RIDERZ!!!)
THAT SONG BY GEMINII(HYPNOTIZED IS THE NAME OF THE SONG I THINK) IS A GOOD EXAMPLE.

LOOK BRAKING TOP 10 IS GOOD,BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH WHEN MIXX IS TOP #7!!!! ANT THE BEAT IS #1
 
Yeah I kinda hate it when they say REPRESENTIN THE PIONEERS OF HIP HOP... and go into someone who was not. Sounds reeeeeeeeeeeeal foolish. Also they edit their music way too much. But I think that is more of a Cox thing rather than a Power 106.7 thing.
 
It's a JJ Rice thing......

If JJ rice tells you to get on your knees you get on your knees ASAP.He is the brains behind this brilliant programing.......
and If you work for CoXXXXX you are a yes sir man!!!!
IF power is to make it than JJ Rice needs to go away for good......
 
Probably hold on to these songs longer because there is nothing new or worth putting on so everything gets burned.
From an old music director, hard to break product when it is not there.
 
Well, First I think that Coxxxx is a TEAM player in the market.They position their stations to help one another.Jamz, Z, and now Power were and will continue to help the other stations.What they care about is if their stations are doing well in their demos.KISS is the big Fish that COXXXX wants #1. The one station blocking that is the BEAT.Power is there to take enough points away from the BEAT and allow Kiss to take over that spot.How that transfers to programing is the question??????

ANSWER: You create a station(POWER) that is NEVER going to be #1 but will take points away from whom ever(THE BEAT) is in the way of another station(KISS).

Bring it all together. Power is programed not to be number #1,It's there to just do its job in the Coxxxx cluster!
that will explain the crappy music selection and crappy programing!!!!!
 
Makes no sense. Crappy Music and Crappy program to help the Cox Cluster? Wow - they must really be helping KONO.
 
Well from a 10 year radio vet I can understand the scenario of taking numbers away from the beat so KISS can dominate #1 but that in no way justifies crappy music and crappy programming. Even if a station had a motive to help a station in their cluster it really isnt an excuse. Power has and or had the chance to be either #1 or at least in the top 3. Two stations in the top 3 in any market is way better than 1 station at #1 by itself. Anyone agree?
 
Thank goodness we heard from a 10 year radio vet! That means you should be at least 25 and know everything about everything in radio.
 
I see your point about having 2 stations in the top five.Coxxx has KISS,KONO,KCYY top five or six.Ratings = money right?KISS(rock) you CAN sell KISS with high numbers.KONO(oldies) Has been and will continue to sell because is been there for ever,You can sell KONO with High numbers.KCYY(country) you can sell with high numbers.Now this is where it get harry................
COXXXX wants to protect that at all cost.That is their blood line.....
COXX does not want POWER in the top five because HIP HOP is HARD to sell even if your top five.SO if power becomes a top five station Cox is bumping one of their money makers out of the top five.SO Power is limited on what it can do.It's a weapon that is not used to its full potential.HIP HOP is Hard to sell because the it's just is.Nature of the format.

Buddy you almost insulted me. Almost. I'm sorry but with a name like "Homeo" I cannot take you seriously. I never claimed to know everything about the business. Maybe you should worry more about the real aspects of radio rather than bashing people on a radio message board recalling how you "used to" be in radio. Cause guess what? Maybe you are jealous of someone like myself who has been in radio as long as I have and maybe you are jealous of Romeo. maybe that is why you take such pride in bashing him and myself. Maybe, maybe not but you sure come off that way.
 
You caught me. I'm jealous of you. You are a goddess and awesome on the air. But then again, today is "say the opposite of what you think" day.
