About Stevens & Pruett: Let's discuss

Knowing the history of Steven and Pruett is find and all. But let's get down to bidness here: I want to know if these guys are still viable here in Houston.

I heard them on DXS the other morning and I thought they were still funny but I guess I'm a die hard fan. I thought Houston radio was at its best when Mark and Jim were owning mornings on KLOL. But that's just me. I know these two guys haven't really been together since something like 2001. I heard them and loved what I heard but if Dave and DSX have some idea of bringing them back to the airwaves as the Stevens and Pruett we knew and love, would Houston be receptive and welcome them back? Pruett and Shannon were OK on 97.5. I thought that show had moments, but it wasn't the orginal Radio Gods. It lacked an edge. Jim seemed different. I never knew why either. So my question to you guys is this; they sounded good together the other day but that was one hour of them again. Would they work as a daily show after all these years? And what about them on a internet radio station? Would that work?

Also, would they need to bring back all the orginal people with them to be a success like Boner, Locke, Martha Martinez, Laurie Kendrick and Craig Roberts? Or were they a one shot deal only for their time and only good on KLOL?

Spent force. Age has caught up to them; it's a game for younger players, at least in the money demos. The schtick is stale. The target demos that remember them have also outgrown them.

I may be biased here but I think the guys still have it. Entertaining is entertaining and funny is funny. The thing that had made ALL radio stale is the fear of being slammed with a hefty fine from the FCC. Owners will sacrifice content to avoid problems. Stevens and Pruett worked for Clear Channel and most people realize the CC did not back their talent.

Don't blame age for any staleness you felt had settled in. Blame the FCC. They were great the other day on www.dxsradio.com!

I agree with Dave. A lot of the staleness was forced upon us by regulating everything we could say or do.
