About The Sept. Lunch At Cap's:

No, this is not roll call yet. Too early for that. We'll start taking names for attendance in late August.

But - Any and all of you who are already thinking about coming to this one, may I make a suggestion:

Dig in your closets, attics and garage, and everyone bring one piece of radio memorabilia for Cap to keep and display on his restaurant wall. An old station T-shirt, jacket, music survey, a gold record, a picture LP (remember those?), keychains, bumper stickers, autographed pics of popular singers, DJ appearance pics with the Playboy bunnies or beer company promotional chicks, blackmail pics of a name DJ with an underage chick in the 70's - anything (preferably with call letters) from the old days on it. And attach your name to it somehow so Cap will know who to credit for the donation.

He used to have so much radio stuff up on his walls at his other place that he lost in the storm. Let's help him make Cap's a radio museum of sorts, especially if this one is to be taped for TV, as I understand it may be.

Whatcha think?

Within the next week I will have exact duplicates (Taken from the original)of old bumper stickers from Z98, WFMF FM 102 (1982), and K94 KSMB (4 diffrent ones). I have the originals but they are used.

That's great! Any radio memorabilia at all would be terrific. Let's make Cap's place special and a one-of-a-kind anywhere to enshrine the days when radio was king!

I would love to contribute Bob. I have a few things (some are duplicates) I can get together for Cap's place!

That's freakin' bad a** Smashed, but how? If that stuff is copyrighted, I thought no one would want to touch it fearing some kinda consequences?

BUT if so, maybe you can help me then. I have two questions: ;)

1. How did you manage to get copies of originals duplicated?
2. Who can print a t-shirt for me with an old (early 1980's) B-97FM logo on it? (BTW this logo has NO , ©, or ® on it)!

The trick is it cant be copyrighted. If its a registered trademark you cant do it. I sent off for the stickers. 20 of each! 150.00!!! Either I am nuts are I am an old radio geek or both! ;D Next week I am going to try to get a Z98 T Shirt made..Anyone have a Classic Rock 92.3 sticker?

Anyone have a Classic Rock 92.3 sticker?

I do!!!

Ya know, when I worked at 106.7 The Wolf, Citadel had some Rock 92.3 WCKW bumper stickers lying around all over the place. We had a few in the 106.7 studio in mint (brand new) condition. Oddly enough, in the old Mix 92.3/Diva 92.3 studio, they had a pack of them barely opened! Made one wonder there for a minute if Rock 92.3 was coming back or if the ghost just won't die! lol :p ;D

Jeremy

And I had an old Z-98 t-shirt my aunt in Addis, LA got for me! I can't remember what I did with it! Shucks.... ???

OK Do they still have them? Can I call them? Can I get one?

Don't ever feel bad bro. I am the same way. I'm such a radio geek myself. I love to collect radio station stuff from the past.

I'm pretty sure they can give you one or two just because you're a collector and you're gathering this stuff for your memorabilia collection. If I still worked there, I'd ask and see about getting you a couple, but.... You may still have one option! :p You can give 'em a call, but I dunno who you could talk to. Actually, try Jim Hanzo.... He's a genuine guy and he'll be honest with you.

Also, Weerd Wayne is a fellow radio personality and he worked a number of years for the Levet's at WCKW. He may have a bumper sticker he can lend to you for your quest in making duplicates! Meanwhile, I'll check my collection to see if I have one I can give ya. I know I've got more than one somewhere! ;)

Does anyone know who in the New Orleans metro area can make a couple of t-shirts for me with a few old B-97 logos?? I know I keep asking this, but I keep hoping someone will see this and point me in the right direction! 8) Thanks!

I do have something but its not from New Orleans. I have a Z106 WSTZ jacket from 1987. Its silver with pink and blue writing on it. WSTZ on the front. Z106 Rock N Roll capitol of the World on the back.

Unfortunately, all 30+ years of my radio pix, gold/platinum albums, airchecks, etc., went washing out into the Gulf of Mexico...wish I could help...

Welll...that logo is correct, according to a TIX Sing-Along Survey I have online from 1968. It was just simple wording in Helvetica font put together by the printer for the front (lower image) of the surveys:

http://www.walkerpub.com/radio_tixsurvey82468.html#anchor2331250

That one's nothing special at all. In fact I would just call it "wording" since it doesn't include the circular "Storz Broadcasting" around it, which, to my eye, would make it a real logo, though unimpressive. We had much more creative logs during the next few years. But that *was* the printed identification we were using in '68. Helvetica. Yawn !!

I figured it was from printed matter but I've seen shirt logos for radio stations differ than what was in print sometimes.. that's why I asked

But thanks for the confirmation

Have to look and see what I still have. Hello Uncle Bob...

Charlie

Cap, ya still got my WNOE-FM black jacket with that killer logo patch? Left it for you to wall-mount or do something similarly showtime.

Seems like I have a mid-70s WTIX T-shirt with Oldies King, Skinny Tom, et al, on da streetcah. Will try to dig it up and bring for anyone who wants to take pitchers of it -- but NO way that one's going away from my place (even if it's usually MISplaced here).

Just got my stimulus package (not to be confused with a "package stimulus," the adult book store guys tell me), so hope I can hold onto enough of it for the gas to see youse guys in September.

Soxless.

I have ..

bumper sticker remakes of WFMF, Z98, And 4 Diffrent K94 stickers.
Z106 Jacket (jackson, Ms)
and another item that I may have soon :)...

Again Sept 20 is my birthday ;D

Soxless, that shirt with the streetcar sketch and the TIX DJ's waving from the windows was the best one of all time, in my opinion. I would love to have a picture of that logo to put on my site. I thought it was lost forever!
