About WZZO, or Z95

Ok ok, SO 95.1 WZZO is owned by Clear Channel. They have a kick ass sound and don't appear to be whipping the (BLEEP) out of the same old rock songs that WMMR and Y102, and WYSP are. I think WZZO plays a great mix of current and classic rock. I dig the jocks, especially Torri Thomas ( and who doesn't ).
I know that regrettably Arbitron lumps 95.1 in with Philly stations. But does the Valley's Rock station REALLY have any competition???

Rage on WZZO

Actually, I just heard a liner on Y-102 the other day saying something like "now playing an even BIGGER variety of rock hits." Any news on what this is all about? Is Y-102 becoming more Jack-ish?

Not sure what you mean here, but the Allentown radio market is separate from the Philly radio market. Sure, an Allentown station may once in awhile show up in the Philly ratings, or vice versa, but in defense of the ratings people, 95.1 really isn't "lumped" in with Philly stations.

As for competition for WZZO, I guess the biggest in-market competition would be considered "The Hawk," which focuses more on older, classic rock, than does WZZO.

"WZZO is garbage!" that's because the stoshman isn't with them any more.

Re: About WZZO, or Z95 ... and comments about Y-102 and Arbitron

WYSP has been the top Philadelphia station in the valley ratings for years. Is it the rock, or is it Howard? Will be interesting to see if anything changes next year.

BTW, my favorite Lehigh Valley rock station will always be 1470 WSAN! It survived a long time before WEZV/WZZO came along!

The one posted on R&R that shows WYSP in 9th place, the highest rated Philadelphia station in the Lehigh Valley ratings. The top 8 are valley stations. The next is WIOQ, a full point lower. I don't see any other Philadelphia station higher any time at least in the past year.
What am I missing?

Ah, yes! I remember WSAN in the mid-70's (when 95.1 WGPA-FM was playing elevator music). It was an excellent progressive station, as opposed to the more formulaic (albeit more popular) rock stations on the air today.
