Absolutely! TA DX season has indeed begun!

Finally, after about a week and a half of monitoring, I've been able to get strong enough audio to match with the online stream IDing Absolute Radio on 1215 kHz. There's a lot of other garbage in there, but Absolute is coming through.

Stream here ~> http://player.absoluteradio.co.uk/core/player/?rolled&service=abr

Keep in mind that the stream runs about 30 secs behind the MW audio and that the window is very narrow at this time of the year!

Yes, I'd say that it's just a wee bit early for you on the west coast to start hunting just yet. ;D

I believe Croatia, along with Absolute and Radio Farda, have been logged in your neck of the woods last year. That and the prospect of catching Asian transmitters should make your location an interesting one.

I wasn't able to listen in last night, but soon the western edges of continental Europe should come into play. As for my top pick on my wish list, I too will have to wait until about November to try and make a catch.

Europe 1 on 183KHZ was in and out and slightly above the threshold but audible tonight. Lots of hets on the usual commericial longwave frequencies.

Nothing on the MW splits.

Was hearing an oldies station under KYW/1060 right up till turned the receiver off & came upstairs to post on R-I. Since the signal was best with the receiver set at 1062,

I love Absolute radio, its a great classic hits station, but im sorry to say that I just dont beleive its late enough in the year form trans atlantic AM DX.. Ive ony caught trans atlantic DX one, and that was at peak season, summer on fm,, and I was on the S.C coast with a straight shot across the water to spain. Im not calling you a liar like some people did me,, but I will be honest and say i have never heard transatlantic AM skip,, and I only once caught trans atlantic FM DX,, which i even doubnt myself on that one, even though I heard and saw the IDs plain as day.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what station on 1060 plays oldies? I was hearing it as late as 11:00pm when I shut things down. The signal seemed best with my antenna favoring a slight NE/SW orientation.

As to trans Atlantic reception, well I won't speak for Tincap, but I believe he lives in Ontario, and that definitely helps his chances.

Thank you, sir.

I wouldn't post my catches (as they are happening) unless I was getting them. I realize my easterly location gives me some of the earliest chances, but I post them for the benefit of everyone here.

I've landed the first mainland European catch of the season.

Holland's Radio 5 on 747 kHz is coming through, fighting through the slop from WSB (and others). A fairly regular visitor last season, I have strong (linguistic) roots to this one.

Streaming here ~> http://radioplayer.omroep.nl/radio5-default/asx/audioplayer.html

You'll be listening for English language Christian contemporary, as EO is currently providing their block of programming.

In Northern IL, a very faint heterodyne on 873 kHz (presumed Weißkirchen/Frankfurt) 0115 UTC(GMT). There's some static from T-storms (possibly Western IL/Eastern IA according to radar) No other heterodynes noted here.

Catching 873 here would be neat. They served up some pretty good Blue Jays playoff games, while I was living in The Netherlands, during the early '90s. :D

I'm not hearing much het (there's a little bit there) right now, but wow...I've IDed WWL in the slop, amongst others, along with Radio Reloj (with its famous clock tone).
