I heard from a good friend of mine in Saint Louis, MO the other day, and he told me about the radio dial in eastern Missouri. He named off about six stations playing older music, ranging from classic hits to true oldies of the 50's and 60's. I took the time to sample the playlists, even the most generic classic hits station (KLOU) had an "interesting" playlist, with music from the early 60's through the 80's being featured. After sampling some of the stations from Saint Louis, I began thinking about what we have available on the radio in the Seattle area.
KZOK 102.5 does a very good job with the classic rock format, I think KZOK deserves the terrific ratings which they have been enjoying lately. Other then KZOK, the selection for older music on the radio dial is really quite abysmal. When I compared KLOU (owned by Clear Channel) to KJR-FM, there was no comparison, KLOU has a much better selection of music, while at the same time having better ratings.
Although we dont get to see how well KMCQ is doing in the ratings, I really hope they are doing well. For classic hits, they are not half bad at times.
