AC Active

So Dial-Global has a "Local" option to where they offer a format with localized jocks/music/imaging and the Hot AC format is AC Active. It's current-heavy, but sounds like Hot AC today! Anybody else heard this? It's in Gallipolis, OH where I intern at Sunny 93 and their music selection for the 12am EST (11am CST) since Dial-Global runs on Central:

Michael Buble - Haven't Met You Yet
K.T. Tunstall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree
Train - If It's Love
Switchfoot - Dare You To Move
Lifehouse - All In
*Commercial Break*
Aerosmith - Jaded
Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Lady Antebellum - I Run To You
Dido - White Flag
Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
Neon Trees - Animal
*Commercial Break*
Sheryl Crow - Strong Enough
Jason Derulo - In My Head
3 Doors Down - Here Without You

I think 98.9 WQLV of Millersburg, PA (near Harrisburg) acquired this format sometime in July. This does seem like a cool format for people who like that kind of music, although I must admit that I definitely miss the old WQLV. It was formerly a regular AC station which had a bit of a unique sound because it used to play a couple of "obscure to radio" tracks each day...songs from the 70s all the way to today that were moderate or big hits but generally never get airplay these days. What I really miss about the station was a program called "Streakin' Through the 70s" where you could hear some "abandoned" 1970s gems that even classic hits stations won't touch today, along with plenty of classics from the decade. Oh well...it's good to hear that some people enjoy the new format.

WJRV "106-1 The River", which is a rimshot Hot AC in Knoxville, TN has used Dial Global's localized service for the past year and a half since they debuted. They are local in the mornings and use the Dial Global, localized cuts the rest of the day. You can listen on their website at www.river106.com. There also used to be a another suburban FM here in East Tennessee that ran Dial Global's localized classic rock format, but they recently flipped to True Oldies Channel.

Anyway, the Hot AC format that "106-1 The River" runs isn't bad. But it's not getting much traction in the Knoxville ratings because it's on a rimshot signal. (but it is the market's only Hot AC).

I think the Knoxville markets Mix 95.7 was a better Hot AC,, they even more hotter than Star at times.

Sunny is mainly local during the week. Only afternoons is syndicated. I do nights... Overnights and Weekends are done by their jocks. It actually sounds local with them tagging the station at the beginning or end of the breaks.
