AC and Hot AC stations on XM

I just want to know if The Blend is the only station considered the AC station on XM. I know the other stations Sunny and Love Songs I believe its called aren't as Sunny is EZ music and Love Songs is I guess Love AC. Because I think XM needs to change it around and have one AC called Lite XM and the other Star XM as AC's with the Star name tend to play some songs you would hear on Hot AC stations. Also what would be considered as the Hot AC station on XM Radio? Would it be the Mix station maybe?

I do believe Mix is the Hot AC.

Mix = Hot AC
The Heart = AC Love songs
Sunny = B/EZ
The Blend = AC

No..."Mix" is more of a modern AC, although not exactly fitting under that label, either. It appears to be modeled after Bonneville's "The Mix" in Chicago, which is also very tough to label.

Strictly speaking, XM has no Hot AC. "Kiss" might be the closest, but, with its definition including a pretty strict cut-off date, it can't really be considered a Hot AC.

Although, of course, the definition of "Hot AC" is changing....

Yes. Modern AC pretty much replaced Hot AC in the mid 90's.

What Hot AC used to sound like before the mid 90's "modern" sound = The Blend

Light AC = The Heart
______________

The days of the Gloria Estefan and Phil Collins AC format has been over. There has not been enough good mainstream hit material in that tempo to keep that format going. Alternative music from Del Amitri, Gin Blossoms, to Rob Thomas replaced it. Which I guess is Hot AC. The AC top 30 you see in R&R magazine, how many stations that are AC follow that, or exactly format that. Very little if any.

The Blend sounds somewhat similar to what ABC's AC satellite service sounded like in the 90s when they used "Todays Hits & Great Oldies" There are differences though.

The Heart positions: "Love Songs & Soft Favorites" which I consider "Soft AC"

Mix XM is a mixture of Hot/Modern AC and CHR rock hits.

Kiss XM is the golds and recurrents that 20 On 20 doesn't play.
______________

Sure a AC station can put in a Rob Thomas, Howie Day, or Blow Fish which are considered AC anyways they don't sound to hard or to soft. But their are some better AC stations on FM out their then The Blend. AC is still AC and it is still a popular format. FM stations that are AC still rank well in the ratings.

While I haven't listened to XM much, I would hope they don't try what Sirius has on ch 12, Super Shuffle. They play everything in their library in all formats. While I don't mind variety, like Chicago area's Nine FM trimulcast, this is the worst for me to deal with.
