AC - Cape May Ratings

1. 99.3 / 105.5 - I guess no surprises here.
2. 107.3 Cat Country - This is a surprise, thats a major jump.
3. Lite Rock 96.9 - Little fall, but I am sure not a major hit.
4. WAYV - How do they do it with all those commercials.
5. ZXL - Looks like they might be back ??? Def winning the rock wars
6. WOND - Good for them, something needed to go right over there.
7. WTTH / WDTH - Like lite rock, lil fall...but nothing major.
8. MGM - Yikes, thats not a 50k signal rating.
9. WTKU - Hey Dave and Jerry...where are you ????
10. SOJO - Eh...thought they would have done better.
t11. ESPN 1450, WCZT, THE ACE, MID - One of these stations has to be thrilled to be here (ESPN) and one has got to be pretty embarrased to be in the compnay of the other 3 (The ACE), the other 2 kinda where they belong.

I think overall it was a pretty interesting book. ZXL clearly won the rock wars, Equity had a nice book overall. Millennium did pretty well too, figure PUR cleaned up, Lite Rock is up there and even ESPN had a good showing, beating The ACE. Heck, maybe they can even start taking some of their ad dollars now they both are going for me. Access had a tough one. I wonder what its like in that building.

I think that WJSE (102.7 The Ace) should consider a tweak, or even relocating. In Ocean County where radio is so white-bread and safe, we would be thrilled to have a station like this. I liked them a little better when they were Alternative, but they're still a very good modern-leaning Active Rocker that's very different from anything we have in this market. I think the main thing that's holding them back is the signal - arguably the weakest commercial FM signal in all of New Jersey.

WAYV is still beating SoJo? Shows you that people still prefer the heritage station, even with all the commercials and whatnot. SoJo should consider throwing in the towel if they fail to improve in the next book. I think they should consider the CHR (Normal or Rhythmic), Adult Standards, Alternative or Active Rock formats (if they went Active, I think they would take listeners away from the very bland WZXL) if the ratings don't improve. I think that both WSJO and WMGM are big time underachievers considering their signals.

Congrats to WPUR (Cat Country) and WGBZ/WZBZ (The Buzz) to their ratings success. Both of these stations were only introduced in this decade, right? I always knew both Country and Urban would work in this market - the question is, what took so long for the media outlets to figure it out?

Remember that the WOND and WMGM and WTKU (AM) transmitter
building burned down on May 4th, and WMGM was at reduced power
from that point on. They did pretty well considering.

I assume WMGM is blowing out 50K again as I was able to DX them last night in Harleysville, PA. Is that, in fact, the case?

Not yet - but high enough that you won't notice much difference when it's
all back to normal. Power on FM doesn't make much difference once you
reach the half-way point of your licensed power.

I did notice coming back from AC tonight on the Xpwy, at the 2.00 tolls MGM was starting to get beat up by flea powered PPZ. I could not understand why, with 50kw? I was enjoying their blend of Classic Rock, I noticed they play much harded edged Classic Rock than say MGK or the Hawks. But they do talk alot. This was in a 2006 Lexus (not mine :(). I wonder once again if PPZ is operating at its assigned power, or pulling a WURD. I know its 1000' but I think they are still at 300w. I know they cannot boost due to interference with MMR, I do not know how this occurs and why. There is a clause that if PPZ and the previous stations before them, interfered with MMR in any way they would have to power down. BTW, how did MID do, I know they had a great book last period, are they above a 3.0. I can still remember the old OND/MGM 20kw-300' tower with the bays starting half way down the tower, how they managed to be at 50kw/500' for the last 25 years is facinating. When they were at 20kw they were Omni and now Dir, am I correct????

The issue with 103.9 (licensed to Jenkintown) and WMMR is "IF Interference"
103.9-10.6=93.3 ... older radios were plagued by images from stations that
were 10.6 above and below. (yeah the IF is 10.7 - but 10.6 is close enough)

WOSJ/WMGM started out at about 3 KW horizontal in 1961 or so - then
WMGM was 20,000 watts non-directional at about 140 feet from 1972 to 1985
or thereabouts. It's now at about 385' directional to protect WNNJ in Newton,
at 50,000 watts. I installed the tower and transmitter.

Is this the same reason that you never see a Ch. 6 TV and a high powered 98.5 in the same market?
