AC STATIONS IN THIS MARKET

Have nothing on NY's LITE-FM. At work normally we are stuck listening to the Coast, SUNNY, WRMF or 101.5 LITE FM; however, I decided to play WLTW-NEW YORK'S 106.7 LITE-FM through the computer. WHAT A VARIETY!!!! WOW - Not one song repeated, new music, upbeat, great sound.

Maybe Coast should take a lesson when they play Crush by Jennifer Paige or One More Try by Timmy T 3x a day.

Although I havent listened to AC radio in a long time, I know many promote their "no repeat workday." Does anyone in South Florida do that?

I cant imagine WRMF doing it. They are too current based, but Lite and Coast should be able to pull that off. I think Cox's Atlanta AC promotes that -- no repeats from 9am-5pm. Yet they still have a very tight playlist. Back in the 90's, I had a friend who worked there and he said they only played about 250 songs!!!! So while they didnt repeat in any given day, the DEFINITELY repeated day-to-day.

I find that Lite in NY is a little "heavy" for an AC station. I'm sure it helps them in the ratings, but as I get older, I keep hoping for a true "soft" station to try and relax. ::)

Coast unfortunately does not fulfill a no repeat workday. The thing that ticks me off with Coast is they are playing the same B rated songs every single day. Seriously, heavy rotation play on "Crush" by Jennifer Page, "Kiss Me" Six Pence...I mean c'mon, there is A LOT more variety of music out there from the 80's through today. I think the program director is afraid to play Taylor Swiift, Michael Buble, and more adult hits of today (they just started playing those two artists). It gets redundant and it's quite sad. The Blend on Sirius XM is a perfect example of variety, but, We've been listening to WLTW 106.7 LITE FM on the net from NY and I am amazed to hear the variety of music. Granted I was shocked to hear "Closer" by Ne-Yo and "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga, but it's refreshing to hear different music every day. Perhaps that's why they are number one and have been forever.

As far as the smooth soft relaxing light music, I'm not sure what the play list is over at 101.5 LITE FM- Miami - I'm sure they are much "Lighter" than NY'S LITE.

I have posted on this before, but WRMF was a far superior station when they billed themselves as "South Florida's Variety Station." The music selection was better, the jocks were more upbeat (and talked more), and the station was more "fun" to listen to.

Coast does have a unique focus: its '80s weekends and specialty programming.

A bit OT, but just about eight years ago, a friend had me scan back and forth across all the AC stations in the area. We laughed when within less than thirty minutes, each and every one of them had played at least one tune by Gloria Estefan. At the time, WLTW was carried on XM, and they were our one escape from her.

pretty tough to do that since the AC stations here play their 20-odd track playlists from an itunes.

i'm convinced gnarly charley is not human but actually a computer voice emulator.

Coast HD-2 is all 80's all the time with all Gnarly Charley all the time.
Interesting how Lite only turns their HD-2 on one month each year with all Xmas music all December.
