Every DJ on XM is not paid and actually pays to be on XM. Feeling the BS on this one, I want insiders to expand our minds on this

They are employees of XM, getting paid and getting benefits.

Whereas Jim Phillips works for Clear Channel and is probably paying for clearance... O&A are XM employees and are paid rather well...<P ID="signature">______________

Yet another lie spouted by Philips...how can his regular listeners have respect for this guy??

He's certainly not making himself look very credible. He's contradicted just about everything he's said and threatened. There's also nothing legally Philips can do to O&A unless they break their cease and desist order the station placed on them. Only if some of the "pests" were stupid enough to use their real e-mail addresses and/or send him life threatening letters would there be any grounds for prosecution. Even then, it would be the problem of that particular pest and not Opie and Anthony.

Jim Philips would probably get much of his respect back if he were to just apologize to O&A as well as his listeners for fibbing about taking the bit, the ratings, how the jocks don't get paid at XM, etc. That's really the only way he'll be able to rebound and get his credibility back...if he can.

I don't think Jim Philips has anything t worry about in the credibility department. The ONLY audience he cares about is the one that counts... Orlando. He is #1 among adults 25-54 most books, and always wins in the male demos. If anyone pays for the philips phile to be on XM, its clear channel orlando, not philips. He's a very shrewd business man, with a very healthy salary, not to mention endorsements. He does not have any of your boiler plate talent fees in his contract. He has negotiated much higher ratea than what one would expect in the orlando market. The on-air antics are merely to bait O&A and their listeners. the audience in Orlando knows exactly what philips is doing.

Wasn't he also saying that he has the most listened to, non-music show on XM Satellite radio too? I find that rather interesting considering that the first hour of his show isn't even heard on XM. It seems to me that it wouldn't make much sense for XM to eliminate an entire hour of their most successful non-music show.

From his own website:
The Philips Phile on XM has been reduced from 4 hours down to 3 hours. They will no longer air the first hour of our show.

philips' standard line for over ten years has been "the most listened to show OF ITS KIND" that leaves lots of room for interpretation as to what a show OF ITS KIND actually is, and what other shows OF ITS KIND actually exist... in otherwords, they are outstanding in their field :)

as far as XM is concerned, i truly doubt philips cares one iota what happens. his only interest is his ratings in orlando. the fact that he's on xm is little more than novelty.
