Honestly they make such a big deal on being all light and sappy i just couldnt let this one go by.

The first time i heard the song " The Sign" by Ace of Base on Lite fm was 2 days ago around 8 pm, i thought it was a fluke but it still freaked me out. Its the first time i ever heard a "modern" *dance* song on a station so soft and cuddly.
It had a nice bass beat i turned up the volume and enjoyed it.

So tonight i heard the song again at 11 pm i was pleasently surprised...

I think theres something "cooking" at the light, anybody have any rumors of format change ?
I think they playin the dance song to get feedback from their listeners.... trying to test the waters and see how listeners react to more upbeat songs.

anybody else heard anymore hip songs on lite ?

It's not suprising, it's a song that reaches their audience base , women 25-54. WRMF runs it in their rotation as well

yea ive heard it on WRMF all the time, just never heard anyhting so up-beat on Lite. it scared me

"The Sign" by Ace of Base -- upbeat? I guess it's a matter of opinion. After all, LITE FM has also played "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins & Philip Bailey ... and "Jack and Diane" by John Cougar (Mellencamp) -- both pretty edgy titles by AC standards -- so tempo and texture are relative considerations. (And Gnarls Barkley is in LITE's current rotation right now.)

Indeed, what you hear on LITE FM is thoroughly by design -- intended to appeal to a predominantly female audience aged 35-49. With every year that goes by, that demo gets "hipper" -- so the music continues to evolve.

Don't blink, though; you'll miss the handful of Streisand and Manilow titles still floating through 101.5's playlist!
