ACE & TJ No Longer on 96.1

Does anyone know what is going on with this? The Charlotte Observer is saying that Ace & TJ are no longer going to be on 96.1. The article is behind a paywall and I cannot access it. Anyone have any details?

TIA.

-Steve.

Sounds like Hits 96.1 will be the next affiliate to receive the Jubal Show.

Were they fired or are they simply being transferred to another local iHM-owned station?

Syndicated shows are not "fired". They are just cancelled, sorta' like a magazine subscription.

They are still listed on the Hits 96.1 website. I could see them possibly moving to 102.9 the Lake, but that station has not used on air personalities.

I'm a subscriber. What am I allowed to do?

Here is this, which I just saw while looking for something else.

Hits 96.1 was their flagship, David. I can appreciate the fact this decision (presumably) doesn't affect downstream affiliates.

Might they reappear on Mix 107.9 locally or is that station's morning strategy already set in stone?

Interestingly, Premiere shopped Ace and TJ around to SummitMedia who has started carrying them in Birmingham, Greenville, Knoxville, and Richmond. They are also on iHeart’s 104.7 WNOK in Columbia.
I don’t see them moving to another iHeart station in Charlotte or being picked up elsewhere unless they somehow reappear on 95.1. The show is getting a little up there in age for CHR, most of the newer affiliates are hot AC, AC, or classic hits stations.

Maybe iHeart Media should consider syndicating the San Francisco based "JV Show" He is a great morning show host!

It doesn't seem right for them not to be in Charlotte. Yes, people can stream one of their affiliates, but it's not the same.

I don't know why it hasn't been mentioned but the Charlotte Observer article said they were on 95.7 The Ride. However, brief clips are not the entire morning show.

Another Charlotte morning show flagship is changing. First Bob and Sheri leave 107.9-WLNK, and now Ace and TJ are leaving 96.1-WHQC. I guess iHeart is seeking improved ratings or responding to changing demographics. Is this another case where Ace and TJ own their own show like Bob and Sheri? Apparently iHeart does not own the program. Originally Ace and TJ were successful on 95.1-WNKS before moving to 96.1.

But this also begs the question, are Ace and TJ being cancelled as iHeart prepares for a format change on 96.1, or will they remain CHR?

They already moved afternoon hosts Matt and Ramona to the morning show, replacing Bob and Sheri. And apparently the recent ratings were good. But remains to be seen. Although 107.9 finally seems to be improving, and Bob and Sheri fans can tune to 104.7.

Interesting they placed the Breeze on 106.5-2.
I would think that 102.9 would be the stronger signal.
I agree. The Breeze is on 106.5 HD2 and the signal is not very strong where I live.
The WEND tower is north of China Grove, so that's understandable. It used to be north of Cleveland and people in Greensboro (except around the UNCG campus where there was a student station at 106.1) could pick it up as well as people in Charlotte.
