Ace & TJ Show Debuts On 96.1 on Jan 5, 2012

Happy for Ace & TJ. CBS never should have let them go.

I listen to them here in eastern NC on 93.3 and they tell some good stories about the old employers.

Remember that Arbitron's weekly (and monthly) PPM cycles begin on Thursdays. I'm guessing that was the impetus for the change, not any intended slight at Kiss, which is honestly so subtle that it didn't even occur to me until you guys mentioned it here.

2012 will be very interesting for the CHR battle. With Ace & TJ and a revamped staff, I'd venture to call this do-or-die time for Channel. I personally think Kiss sounds as excellent as ever, but their share has been eroding over the last six months so it appears the morning change has affected them.

I'd love to hear some of those stories since I know some of the management characters, no doubt whatever they said is true!

So that means Brotha Fred stays in Chicago with no Channel96.1 satellite simulcast?
Correct. Never cared for "AM Mayhem", really.

If they'll tweak 96.1 a little more mainstream CHR, with Ace & TJ, I think they stand a chance against Kiss - their numbers haven't really been that stable lately...

Looks like Channel also has a new night DJ. They're getting their act together.

Ace, TJ & Brotha Fred have had quite a following in Charlotte.

They had a lot of listeners when they were in the city.

I'm sure listeners are glad that Ace & TJ are back on the air.

I'm also sure that fans of Brotha Fred (when he was on Fox News Edge w/Morgan Fogarty) understood when he went to the larger market of Chicago, & were glad that they would be able to hear his "AM Mayhem" on the radio.

Now that Ace & TJ are back, do you think there's a place for Fred on Kiss? (O Show contract?)

Putting him in another time slot on Channel96.1 would probably compete too much w/Ace & TJ.

don't see that happening, Chicago is a bigger market than Charlotte so why would Fred want to come back? Also, he works for Clear Channel Chicago.

Caught up with both Channel and Kiss this past week. Props are in order for Channel...no offense to them, but I do still give the slight nod to Kiss. That station simply has better energy and pacing than almost every single CHR in the country. I know mornings will be tough for them but while I wish Channel success, I do hope Kiss maintains its dominance.

It sure does look good for 961 but I know Kiss will respond.

I seriously hope that Kiss responds by making some major changes to the O show. It has potential, but right now it is pretty painful to listen to.

"Some potential" I barely see any at all right now. I used to listen to Kiss morning show on my way back from working overnight. Now when I turn on the radio in the morning I don't even switch my radio to 95.1... I don't know who's idea it was to put a non-experienced on air talent aka Brittany (whose voice sounds like 10,000 mosquitos and her commercials worse) The whole dynamic of the show is disjointed and lacks energy. If someones purpose was to drop ratings and make listeners move to another station in the mornings- well done. I hope they are paying attention and are going to make changes and soon... I would like to be able to listen to Kiss in the morning again.

Looks like Channel's taking it's music straight-ahead mainstream to coincide with Ace & TJ's arrival. Today's logs included "I Don't Want To Be," "Breakeven," "Pocketful Of Sunshine," "Move Along" and "Need You Now." Any overt rhythmic lean appears gone. Also, Channel's Facebook page is absolutely blowing up. They're adding new followers by the thousands.

It's official - we have a CHR slugfest on our hands, with two superb competitors. This is going to be very, very interesting to watch.

As I mentioned in my own thread of Channel 961 sounding solid, it's true. I am happy to have them #1 on the iHeartRadio App! How will Kiss respond? I don't know. Yea, they have good flow of music but they are losing in the game right now. Who will lead at the end of the January or even February PPM ratings? Answer: Channel!
