ACM awards

I taped them but haven't watched yet. I wanted to be able to fast-forward.

It would have been possible to TiVo. I took a risk with the converter box because last week just walking up to the TV to turn it on and stop or start the recording made the picture mess up and, of course, I lost the sound. I turned it on last night at the end to turn off the recording and the picture just froze and even backing away didn't help (but this seemed to be during a commercial). This is a channel that never, ever messed up before I moved the converter box when I changed TVs, and even then, it was months before anything happened. I adjusted the converter box's position to stop problems I was having on two other channels and it seems to have worked, though. Those are the channels I really want to tape, one in particular.

But moving farther away from the TV made everything work again. I had changed the channel (for "The Simpsons") and forgot to turn on the channel on cable in time. I think I saw Carrie Underwood accept an award. Then Darius Rucker ended the show. I can't say I like him, but he's not so bad that I can't say I wouldn't adjust later on and realize I actually do like him.

I watch and taped the show,he show was good, but they had a couple of technical glitches like Brooks and Dunns last ACM appearance was trashed at the beginning when the song started out. by the end of the song, the mike was to loud. Also there was some bad video transitions through out the show.but the overall show was good.

I fast-forwarded through most of the performances, but in the case of Brooks and Dunn it wouldn't have mattered. My converter box really doesn't like them. ;) I had minor glitches all the way through the show, many of which could be passing cars. Now toward the end of the show when I walked up to the TV to turn it on (too many remotes; sometimes I change the channel on the wrong one and if you do that with a converter box, well, you've lost everything) everything was messed up, as I said above. I don't know the cause but from around the time Brooks and Dunn started performing, the interference was really bad.

I saw only a couple of performances. Despite what I read about Gloriana, I didn't hate them. Nice harmony.

I think the person repsonsible for starting the music during speeches was very rude to Miranda Lambert. She really wanted her producer to speak and he didn't get more than two words out that we could hear.

There were a couple of performances I sort of liked, but no one I really truly enjoyed except Joey+Rory. I wasn't crazy about the lyrics but the sound was real country.

Brad Paisley came close.

I can't really say I like "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum. Maybe if I had heard it on an adult contemporary station in the 70s ...

I'm glad to see you got to see some of the show.also yes I've notice that Miranda Lamberts producer got clipped off,as I was listening to the sound track I recorded at work the next day.Oh my opinion about OTA DTV , will I take the 5th on that.

Somebody please explain to me how the ACM can justify giving Underwood the EOTY award twice? SHe wasn't even nominated for EOTY at the CMA. I know the ACM and CMA have different standards but come on Underwood for EOTY? That don't make any sense

I can see Taylor Swift as EOTY. WHile I don't like Swift her concerts hawled in alot of money and fans. WHat has Underwood done other than smile in front of the camera and oversing her songs?

I was pleased to see a newspaper article (I think it was a newspaper article) which said Taylor's being shut out at the ACMs proved she wasn't really country. Which is strange because the ACMs have always been more pop-oriented, with all these celebrities who don't have a thing to do with country music.

Somewhere I also read Taylor did an atrocious job at the Grammys, that she was terribly off-key. Was that where she sang with stevie nicks?

Yes she sang "Rhiannon" with Stevie Nicks. That was her jump the shark moment. She'll be around for a while but she is now past her peak.
